I think to beat a college they would have to be a little bigger. If you looked at their sizes, I thought they were fairly small in the lines. Well coached, but still small.

Agreed. They will be challenged to win state in my opinion. I think Lufkin and maybe another team or two will give them all they want.

No respectable ones. Legit college teams are the best players of the best high school teams.

I don't know of any. Maybe, maybe, maybe a lower-tier JUCO, but you have to consider that on average only the best 10 or so guys from each 5A DISTRICT in Texas goes on to the next level. D-III schools have much better athletes (and much more developed) than SLC. If you're playing at that level you were an absolute stud in HS.

They could play with very few lower level college teams if any. I doubt any.

P.S. Stack your HS freshman squad up against the varsity. How would they do? You can compare that to the development between the ages of 14 to 17 to the development between 17 and 22. While you don't grow quite as much you learn much more about the game and fill out during that time. A guy who played in my district graduated at 5'9" 175 and came back after his sophomore year at Black Hills State, South Dakota at 5'11" 205. Still ran just as fast, too.

I played at a small DIII in Iowa. We were not very good, but we would still win against any HS. It really is the best of the best in College. i thought that I was a stud coming out HS. 1st team all-district on both sides of the ball. All-state honorable mention. I only played on sp. teams in my 4 years.

The biggest differences are strength and knowledge. We met everyday for an hour or more to watch film. This made practice more efficient and players much more aware of their opponents. You just can't get the meeting times with HS athletes because of the UIL time rules

thats a terrible comparison, I played at Hardin Simmons and if we played SLC they would have to call off the game in the first Quarter. Whoever said its like comparing the fresh to the varsity couldnt be more right. i thought I was hot **** when I got to HSU and i was going to start as a fresh, lets just say I was humbled the FIRST DAY of pads. No high school team can beat any college level team. Not even the all powerful Dragons of South Lake Carol. But they are a outstanding HIGH SCHOOL TEAM .
