Three students from Sealy were killed last night in a car wreck on Highway 36 between Sealy and Bellville. The students were apparently returning to the Sealy area from attending the Austin County fair in Bellville. Three others involved in the accident were taken to hospitals, some by LifeFlight. Those killed were listed in the Houston Chronicle as being 14 years of age.

Three others, including the drivers of both cars, were injured and hospitalized in the accident, which occurred shortly before 11 p.m.

A Texas Department of Public Safety spokeswoman said one car carrying five students was southbound on Highway 36, about five miles south of Belleville, when the driver apparently lost control and his vehicle veered into the northbound lane, striking the other car.

The southbound car, a 1994 Toyota Celica, split in two and many of its passengers were thrown from the car.

Killed were Jessica Hills, 14; Alex Gonzalez, no age available; and Bianca Burditt, 14.

The driver of the southbound car, Jose Gonzalez, 16, of Sealy, was taken to Polly Ryan Hospital in Richmond, where he is listed in good condition.

Aaron Tassin, 18, of Early, was the driver of the northbound car, a 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse. He was taken by LifeFlight to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston with a head injury and an ankle fracture. His condition is not known.

Also taken by LifeFlight to Memorial Hermann was Aaron Munoz of Sealy. His condition and injuries also are unknown.

The DPS spokeswoman said the three students killed and Tassin were not wearing seatbelts. Jose Gonzalez was wearing a seatbelt, but it isn't known whether Munoz was wearing his seatbelt.

This is something that happens all to often.. please everytime you get into a car, no matter if you are driving or not, put your seatbelt on! Caldwell has had the same thing happen,as you know, and the one year mark of Kelley's death is coming up next month... It is a sad and terrible thing that can be prevented! Please always buckleup!

This is one of those sad situations all of our communities eventually have to face. May God be with the Sealy community and the family of the deceased.
