48 Hours is in Gainesville doing a story, about a man who's dad was found hung 50 years ago, well the man went on to do an investigation and foudn out that it was actually a homicide... here is a website if anybody is interested

I read a book regarding the 'Great Hangings' in Gainesville during the Civil War times. Very interesting book.

I read the book as part of an assignment in a Texas History class. It was on a book list that the student could choose from and since Gainesville is not too far from Vernon, I chose to read it.

Pretty bad deal though.

yea its really something that isnt talked about in Gainesville.. i woulda never heard of it if I didnt have a new History teacher in 8th grade...

they were gonna make a memorial for it, but voters petentioned it and now they arent gonna do it..

its kinda weird how so many people are ashamed of it
