View Full Version : Fastest 3A Running Back?

At the risk of making another "homer" post on a very debatable subject......I've got to say that Colin Jones of the Bulls has got to be up there with the fastest 3A backs in the state. He's up to full speed in about 3 steps. Once he has cleared the line of scrimmage and gets into the seconday, I don't think anybody has caught him from behind yet, and he's broken a bunch of runs of 60+ yards. You don't gain 396 yards against a respectable team like Kennedale and not be pretty special. So, because the Bulls are 1-5 right now, he hasn't gotten much notice.

if you make a thread about running backs 99% of the time it will become a homer thread.. but on that note i would like to start the tradition by saying Terrius Purvey is pretty darn quick when he is passing his classes

So... I guess when you say your trying to not make a homer post just before you make a homer post, it makes it OK... :p

I know Keith, no doubt that Purvey is D1 material. I don't know if Colin will be able to attain the size and strength requirement for D1 or not, but he's sure got the moves and the speed.

No WOS1, I said I WAS making a homer post. Sometimes I just run out of material.

Heck, just to start a debate... isn't Jones bigger than Purvey?

Don't know Slpy....Colin is probably 190-195. Keith can tell us, I bet.

Purvey is about 180-185.. i've never seen jone's play so i cant tell you if he is faster then purvey or not.. but i can tell you that if he is then he should be proud because there are not too many people i have seen play as fast as purvey.. if u ever get to watch him its like watching a video game the kind of moves he makes

If he's only in HS, 190 is good size especially if there's room to grow. Most HS backs are in the 180 range.

i was 415 LBS and ran a cool 5.8 in 40 yards

but anyway
huttos gautier is pretty quik i think a 4.2 but thats by the "stats"
he did run a 93 yd td againts manor that took only about 11 seconds from the line of scrimmage in sloppy weather and field conditions but my vote would have to go to liberty hill runnin backs for speed as well as hard running

in HS i was 5'8" and weighed 132lbs and ran about a 4.8 when i graduated....two months later after basic training, i was 6'0" 180lbs and ran a 4.6 (fastest i ever ran was at Ft. Bragg and i was 170lbs...and i ran a 4.52).....how unfair is THAT?! LOL.

Terrius Purvey is fast. But what's the deal with him and grades, heard a rumor. Anyone know?

I can vouch for hand running a 4.2....but...we could never get him to run the 2nd 20 yards.
