Is he in the pros or what? That guy was an awsome highschool baseball player. Just wondering what's going on. Good luck to Homer in the future.

He got a 2 MILLION DOLLAR signing bonus. Then he probably got about a million for each year in his contract

He was the 7th pick in the draft.

Homer is not back in town. He came down for alittle while in August, but other than that he is spending all of his time in Flordia. His parents did the smart thing and put most of all of his money in the bank, but he is driving a four door Ford King Ranch Edition diesel.

Homer plays in mostly simulated games rather than actual exhibitions. In his first start in the rookie league his coach made him throw two innings or 30 pitches, and all were fastballs. In his first inning he burned them down, and the other players couldn't touch him, but in the second the other team figured out that they were all fastballs and they took it to him.

Everyone in La Grange expects high things from Homer.

I broadcasted the final game between Lagrange and Forney and what impressed me was not his stuff( duh it is amazing) but it was his tenacity.

Forney battled him all game and he dug down and always got the out he needed.

Forney's batters tore him up.

If they tore him up so much, how did LaGrange win state?

uhh well I broadcasted for Forney, but I would not say they tore him up. They got some good hits off him but He still shut them down when he needed to.

He gave up 6 hits 3 earned runs and he struck out 14..pretty good line

LOL

Does this remind you of the "Lorena is the 2nd best team in the state not Forney" threads.

Wasn't the final score of the LG vs. Forney game like 10-3?

10-4..great game till Lagrange took advatnge of some mistakes to get a 4 run 6th..so for the most part it was a close game

Forney got a three run third where they did make solid contact, but for the most part Bailey did the job when needed. Man I am glad I keep my notes from all games I broadcast lol

it seemed like they hit him often and hard...just most of them were right at LG defenders or they made some really good plays....LG had better pitching and a little better defensive game...5 out of 6 years to the state tourn aint too bad though...

Both teams made 3 errors, but it seemed Forney got hurt the most...Also the walks killed them 7 combined while Bailey had just 3

Isn't that part of the strategy in the game... to take advantage of the other team's mistakes...

Homer Bailey was great - happy for him & rooting for him. He played summer ball here in Houston for the Houston Heat (Phil Cross). Next big thing to watch out for is junior Blake Williams of Sweeny High School. He also plays for the Heat as I watched them this summer. That kid is filthy, 16 years old throwing 91 mph with good breaking stuff. Only going to get better with maturity. RHP 6'3" 175 lbs. with a loose arm & movement, swings a good stick too as a 3B. I am a scout & believe me this kid is special. Could be mid 90s guy by graduation. If Sweeny puts anything around him, look out. I hear he got hurt in the 1st game as their qb (left collarbone). Kyle Drabek, Aaron Miller, & Diego Seastrunk are others rising quickly in this area. If you can recruit this area, you can win.

$2M+ bonus yes - but i'm sure he's on a minor league contract now - which is not much. he'll be living off of his signing bnous until he gets to the bigs
