Astros in 6 or 7...

Give W's to the Rocket and the Wizard and Backe, there's 3...

The Cardinals will light up the scoreboard, but so will the 'Stros, their worst pitcher is better than St. Louis' best...

I think they will go about 6. If they are going yard like they did against Atlanta, maybe 5 games.
For some sucky reason, whoever wins, they will play them Yankees(i hate the yankees)!!

Cards in 5 or 6. They have been a little slumping of lately (for them) but in that atmosphere I think they will pull it together. With Pujols, Rolen, Edmonds and Renteria, I see it difficult to take them out. I know the Astros had 10 wins against them in the regular season, but I'm not betting against the Cards. Their offense is too powerful.

My Stros will take the series, and put everyone to shame.:D

I'm going to the game on Saturday, the standing room only tickets are the cheapest at 50 bucks. So that is were all of my friends and I are standing.

Astros win in 6. Both Oswalt and Clemmens are getting 3 days rest...unbeatable. We just can't give up another heartbreaker like the both of the Braves wins.

The only thing that the whole season has to do with this series is the home field advantage(?). The hottest team coming in is the Astros. If they can steal one in St. Louis with either Backe or Munro, then the Astros will win the series, but if they are swept in St. Louis then it will be a tall order for them to win the series.

Astros in 6!

keith, now u know that the only stat needed to prove that, by ur logic is the total wins stat.....but since we are comparing stats why dont u compare the last month and a half, im sure u will find the astros have an overwhelming advantage...it isnt the best team that always wins in the playoffs, more often than not it is the hottest team...on paper the cards have played and produced better, but there hasnt been a team coming into the playoffs as hot as the astros since the 70s...maybe even since the miracle mets....astros take it in 7...its gonna be fun..

here are the 2 teams records for September and August, the last 2 months of hte season

St. Louis 37-19 Houston 38-18

not too much a difference now is there??? oh but wait i though Houston was the hottest team to ever enter the playoffs.

Don't get mad.. I just state the facts

sahen

Use the right facts....i said last month and a half not 2 mths....from Aug. 15 their records r:
Astros:36-10
Cards: 30-17

Both r good records, but 6 games more is a lot, esp. when FIVE of them were over the cards themselves....the Astros were the hottest team going into the playoffs and usually the hottest team wins, not always but usually that is why I pick them to win...

Bulldog_12

I think the same analogy can be used for all types of playoffs. This is a time when any team can do anything. These times just do things to people, make them crumble under pressure or rise up to the occasion and have the best couple of games ever. Stats up until this point have no bearing on what will happen. Starting the playoffs was almost like starting fresh in a new season. Who knows what will really happen tonight. I hope the Stros step up and play the best game of their lives tonight and BEAT THE HELL OUTTA ST. LOUIS!!!!

well explain why you chose aug. 15th.. was it because st. louis went 9-3 in that time and houston was 4-8?????

and as for the wins over the cards, its not too hard to beat a line up that looks like this

M Anderson 2B 4 0 0 0 0 2 0 .230
S Taguchi RF 4 1 1 0 0 3 0 .282
R Cedeno LF 4 2 2 1 0 2 0 .271
S Rolen 3B 3 1 1 2 1 0 0 .318
R Lankford PR 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 .247
J Edmonds CF 3 0 0 0 1 1 1 .305
E Renteria SS 3 0 0 0 1 2 2 .288
J Mabry 1B 4 0 1 0 0 1 2 .297
M Matheny C 3 0 1 0 0 1 1 .245
J Suppan P 3 0 0 0 0 1 1 .070
S Kline P 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 .000
C Cali P 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 .000

you may notice that they are missing some people, maybe because they already had the division wrapped up weeks ago
