This Week's Pick 'em...

Okay, I know this is not a 3A game. But this is an incredible matchup, two nationally ranked teams that have had their game rescheduled to Thursday so that ESPN can run the game... WOW, I love Texas HS Football. Enjoy the game on ESPN2... (I know my TIVO will be rolling! And hopefully I will be at the game).

The poll will close early due to the Thursday night game.

REMEMBER: If you think you know of a great matchup in the coming weeks, feel free to send a PM and let me know...

Last Week's Pick'em...

Last week we picked Cameron - Caldwell. Cameron was victorious and the down low prognosticators missed their first game of the season. It was close, but 27 picked Cameron and 29 picked Caldwell. The game's outcome wasn't as close with the Yoemen of Cameron posting a 41-17 victory. Our winning percentage in week 7 was 48.2%....

This is a National Poll. And they don't care what you did last year.

jerry campbell has southlake carroll ranked #2 in 5a and abilene at #1.... is there a reason why s.l.c would be ranked #1 in the country but not even #1 in their own state by some polls(most likely just his)

Not at all, but it'll have to kind of vague. Let's just say that someone who used to have a huge impact on our football players, left a bad taste in a lot of their mouths.

I can certainly see why they are ranked #1 nationally. That was a heck of a performance against Denton Ryan. Man, if Renfro was sick with the flu, what would he have done if he felt good?

National polls mean about as much as a vote for Ralph Nader. Heck, the real poll would probably include no team outside of the states of Texas, Cali, Flordia and Penn. That's more like a four state poll.
If ESPN was looking for a representation of the West Texas style football found in Friday Night Lights, which I think they were, I think they found the furthest thing from it. Air it up boys. Most of the preppi kids from SLC have probably never even been west of Abilene. It's funny how Permian's stadium looks like ancient compared to Carrol's now. It was a good game though.
Speaking of Friday Night Lights, which I just saw earlier in the night, does anybody have a problem with the way they changed history. I don't know how far Permian went, but I do know that Judson played Carter that year. Heck, I even saw Dallas Jesuit in one of the playoff brackets they showed in the movie. I got over it because the movie wasn't half bad, but I still don't know why they have to mess with history.
