Did you know Odessa Permian won the 5A State Championship in 1989 and the 5A Division 2 State Championship in 1990? Also they have won other state championships too as has their rival Midland Lee. Also the great singer Roy Orbison was from Odessa.

Oops Sorry Lobo. I guess the rock djs always said he was from Odessa since that is the largest city near Wink so people could kind of know the georgraphic location he was from. Thanks for the information!

no problem, and you are probably right not many people outside of west texas have ever heard of it so that makes sense

Yeah, and that 1988 season was the first time Permian had lost 3 games in like 20 years. They were "National Champs" in 1989 and I think they were in the early '70s as well.

Roy Orbison was born in Vernon.... I think. Vernon tries to claim him at any rate.
