I remember Buna from the old days.....hmmmmm....let's say about 30 years ago when my cousin played for them! Dang, how time flies. Anyway, I wish the Buna Cougars the best of luck but I know I'm probably just doing some wishful thinking here! Go and give it 110% guys and you never know what can happen on any given Friday night. Best of luck to both teams and play safe.

jasper is good. I hope there are enough bulbs on the scoreboard.

I grew up in Jasper and also lived in Buna for one year. I can't imagine the two teams ever being on the football field together!

ok...since there already is a thread about Jasper vs Buna here, I'll post the score updates on this thread..rain seems to have stopped here in Jasper...hope it's the same down at Buna..I'm sure both teams would prefer a 'dry' field..see you in about 2+ hours from now..

ok...game just started..Buna receives the kickoff...announcers say that it was a light rain, but it seems to have stopped now..field is wet..

ok...Jasper holds Buna..Buna punts to Jasper...1st play Jasper tries a screen pass..it's intercepted and Buna runs it in. Score..Buna 7..Jasper 0..

Just to let you know, there is at least one person (me) who greatly appreciates the updates. The irony in this is my wife's step-dad the the DC for Buna. He does a good job considering the talent.

But I can't get that Bulldog out of my blood regardless. I root for Buna every other week.

I trust the reserves played a lot in the second half? Congrats Dogs on the victory. :)

Reserves and JV did play actually most of the second half. In fact, our last TD was an up the middle run by Jeremy "JJ" Adams, JV running back. To compare him to another runner, think young, healthy Marlon Cook. This kid is gonna see a lot of playing time come playoffs, if not before.

At least one person close to the Buna program said that "Jasper is for real". But, I guess we already knew that.

I didn't expect it to be so close!

Well, if you look at what Jasper has done this year so far it was pretty much the same. Build up the lead in the first half and then coast home. Plus, they have played a few teams---WO-S and PN-G---that have made them play the full game. Silsbee should be a pretty good test to get the Dawgs ready for the playoffs.

I believe Kirbyville will give us a good contest next week. If our guys aren't on their toes, we may get bit in the behind! I have no doubt we can win, but we have to come into the game expecting it to be tough.

Isn't that kind of scary for the other teams?

I hear Kirbyville is really ticked that they are our homecoming game. So, I'm sure they'll give us their best. I'm hoping I'll be able to make this game!

Why would they be ticked? SOMEBODY has to do the honors. :) Seriously, everybody on Jasper's home schedule this year is tough, so it had to be somebody. The only other district possibility would have been Silsbee, and I don't think they would have scheduled homecoming for the last regular season game. Anyway, Kirbyville always plays Jasper tough. :)

It should be a good game. Wish I could be there but will probably not make this one. :(
