Jason is right. Good spelling is very important. Also good grammar is too. Whether you are a basketball player or business person it is always proper and appropriate to use correct spelling and grammar. Proper English is most important.

Growing up with an English teacher for a mother, I had grammar drilled into my head 24-7. To this day, I still have problems with LAY and LIE and GOOD and WELL. One of my biggest peeves is when someone says "me and him went to the store" or "him and me are playing now" OK, I'll get off my soapbox now. :D
