Are there any old rivalries that have been done away with because of re-alignment or teams changing enrollment classifications? I think the Bulls will lose Decatur to 4A in a year or two....right now I sure wish we would have lost them this year. That's Ok....the Bulls will bring their game and will show up to play 48mins. on 10/22 anyhow.

not really a rivalry Bullaholic, but Bridgeport and Royse City had some great play-off games against each other back in '98 & '99. the Bulls had some great teams and always gave us all we wanted.

I am pretty sure that the oldest rivalry in the state in any classification is the La Grange vs. Giddings rivalry. The towns are just 17 miles apart, and this game gets pretty heated. They have played each other every year for like the past 70-75.

Gonzales vs. Cuero... a lot of vandalism before games to each others school... a lot of trash talk... my brother and his best friend, the other dt for cuero, would have fought everybody on gonzales's team 2 years ago if the refs wouldnt have broke it up

That's the oldest one in the state. The most heated has to be Brownwood and Stephenville. Those two teams have so much tradition, they're always good, and the two towns are pretty close to each other. That rivalry goes back to 1937 when they first met in a playoff game.

Did you know?

... Aransas Pass and Ingleside's first recorded game was in 1927, but they may have met even earlier than that. Only problem was that there are no known records (local papers, yearbooks, etc.) that kept sports scores or schedules before then.

This rivalry's not like BC/El Campo, where the teams have played in every stinkin' consecutive year since. Reason: back then, Ingleside only had a population of 500 while AP was a monstrous 3000-person metropolis. They weren't in the same classification until the 60's or 70's, but they've met just about every year since WWII.

I know this is 5A but Abilene Cooper and Abilene High has to be the biggest rivalry in Texas. People camp outside of Shotwell Stadium to get tickets.
The Abilene Wylie vs. Clyde rivalry is pretty big. They usually win, but last year was a different story. I look forward to the game this year should be a good one.

I don't think we have any old rivalries, at least not any that span more than maybe 12-15 years.

SINTON VS ODEM USE TO BE A GOOD RIVALRY GAME, BUT NOW THAT ODEM HAS BEEN OUT OF THE DISTRICT, THE GAME HAS NOT BEEN PLAYED IN A FEW YEARS. I THINK SINTON SHOULD PLAY ODEM IN PRESEASON.
