With the TU vs OU game this weekend I remembered this great Sports Illustrated Article in 1963 about two wealthy Texas exes and their wifes in the 1963 season! It happened during the TU vs OU game which at that time involved No. 1 OU vs No. 2 TU and was one of many Games of the Century. Anyway the Friday before they went to the SMU vs Navy game played in Dallas at the cotton bowl that SMU won in a wild game with Navy at the five yard line at the end. This game was important because it was Navy's only loss and set up another game of the century in the cotton bowl later that season that Texas won 28 to 6. Then after the SMU game they partied and the next day they watched Texas beat Oklahoma 28 to 7! Right after the game and a short party they took off for Waco to watch Baylor win a game against an out of state team that I can't remember. Then back to Dallas again for a late night party and then to the Dallas Cowboys game the next day. Dallas wasn't winning much the early years but they did win that day (I don't remember the opponent). Then of course the partying afterward. One of the wives asked if they were going to really go to Arkansas the next weekend to see Texas vs Arkansas and he answered "Well they're playing aren't they?" A great article that I wish I had kept!
