View Full Version : Gainesville will not win their district

Gainesville's star running back, Terrius Purvey, failed a class at school. He has to miss 3 weeks of football. He missed tonight and will miss at least the next two weeks. Gainesville 1st two district games are Sanger and Pilot Point. Through family members that I have that work at the high school, his mother may have already tried to take him out of school. I think Gainesville can probably win their last 3 district games to finish for 3rd in the district. It has really opened up the district for either Sanger or Pilot Point. My prediction is that Pilot Point wins district.

He better hit the books or his Div 1 ride could be in trouble

From what I hear about her, she is blaming the teachers for failing him instead of making him take responsibility.

Man, HighSchool Fan, I sure wish I hadn't seen that. Nothing ticks me off more. I think I just better stop before I really get started. Good grief.

They've pulled this stunt before, and he will not be pulled out of Gainesville I promise, that would be the worst thing for him if he did fail, He needs to hit the books and make a strong comeback in 3 weeks.. i'll get the inside scoop for you guys don't worry

Pulling him out won't do him a bit of good. He won't be able to play anywhere else either for 2 more weeks - if he's passing then.

I thought you couldn't transfer schools for athletic purposes.

He failed Webmastering, and his mom is trying to pull him out of school, but he says he is going to talk her out of it... she seems more mad about this whole situation then he is.. He is a good kid with alot of talent, i just hope he gets his act together.. I would give anything for the talent he has, i would hate to see that go to waste

I'm sure it will all work out. It can't have been too much of a surprise to him. In case you haven't noticed some moms tend to go a little overboard at times. ;)

Him and his brother and sister live with their grandmother in Gainesville, but his mom lives in Denton... So he could go and live w/ her if he wanted

Purvey does not need to play another down of football in highschool to get his ride to any of about 12 D1 programs. He could move to Denton with his Mom, get some tutoring and pass the SAT and go to college on a scholarship without the worry of injury.

when i was there people who failed ran extra after practice, they HAD to go to tutorials, and they had to play every down on the scout team.. if that is what you mean, and if they get there grades up in 3 weeks they can then play again

oh and if you fail 2- 6 week grading periods, they kick you out of athletics and you are placed in regular P.E. Class

and whatever happened to his big bro? didnt he go to a juco to play hoops? did he ever get to a 4 year school?

His big brother's name is Chauncey. If I remember right he went to Austin Collage in Sherman, Tx. He was not a very good basketball player. He just happened to play on a team that had a couple of 6'6" players that made him look halfway decent. Terrius is twice the basketball player that his brother is.

thanks - I thought he went to Lon Morris JC ..... Austin is non-sholarship, big $s and academic oriented ... not saying he could not do well there, but my son played at UTD that same time & I dont recall him at AC
