I am not sure of the best Defensive Coordinators but without a doubt the worst is Barnes at Quinlan Ford.......they have pretty good athletes, but literally cant line up properly against certain passing formations.....its sad to see on film.

I believe Coach Blake Morrison would rank up there in that list.

AD/DC Jimmie Mitchell is a good candidate, when they are on point... look out. . .

Barbers Hill's Coach Byrd is pretty darn good. One of the best I have seen.

I like Rusty Cauthern at La Grange; Jamie Valentine in Bellville; Brad Dumont at Rice; Jerry Bantly in Sealy; and chances are there are many others. But none of the ones I know can compare to Dan Walling. Walling was the defensive coordinator at Sealy throughout those glory years and was something special.
All of Sealy’s success those years points to head coach T.J. Mills and rightfully so. But Mills would be the first to tell you that without Walling, the four in a row championships would not have been accomplished.
The kids were so prepared that they knew on just about every play what was coming.
Walling left coaching and teaching because he invented an end-zone camera and that venture has been very successful.
If anyone could get him to come out of retirement…your team would show immediate improvement.

Coach Brad Dumont from Rice is the best DC in the state.

I think the best defensive coach's has to be the La Grange coaches. Coach Cauthern is a great guy and is also a great coach. I am telling you this guy will get you going. I love playing for Coach Cauthern. About getting him pumped up you have got to hear him in pregame and in his pregame letters he writes to his defensive player. I'm telling you it will get you going. I will play for him anyday, anywhere, anytime.

Brad Dumont of Rice has the most aggressive D I have seen or played against. Year after year he is going to shut down your run and dare you to pass

I don't remember his name but I know the DC at Shepherd is a bridge city boy and is doing a heck of a job over there. I think they are only giving up about a touchdown a game. Is coach Thompson the DC at WOS this year? what is Foreman coaching?

I agree. What Morrison has done with the talent he has is exceptional. Look at our defense before he got here and look at it now. It's like night and day. I know it's been a tough year so far, but I know he works his butt off and the kids are prepared each week. It will turn around. Everyone I know is supporting him 100%. Good Job Coach!

Coach Dusty Robinson in Iowa Park may not be the best defensive coordinator in 3A but he devises a gameplan everyweek that give us a chance. we run the 3-3-5 stack defence as our base defence but we have lots of different fronts that base off of that.

I was about to post the same thing PPH. If you want the best Coordinator, look for the teams who's defense is consistently at the top in the state in yardage and points. That will be your best indicator.

Coach Valentine of Bellville is a great defensive coach, he will bring out the best in a player and then a little more.

I'm not.

I would give the nod to the DC's at Tatum and Gilmer right now. They are allowing 8 or 9 points a game, in a year of high scoring games.
