.jpeg virus exploiting Windows XP and IE users....MUST READ...

ok, what this basically is, is a Trojan Horse...when you go to a web site, it has images (.jpegs) that could be infected with a virus that will turn your computer into a big paper weight. This is a portion of one of the articles that was interesting to me:

"Internet Explorer processes JPEGs before it caches them. That could also mean that desktops may become infected before antivirus software has a chance to work."

From what I've heard about this, it does not infect any OS that is pre-windows XP or any XP system that has Service Pack 2 installed on it, AND Microsoft Internet Explorer. It exploits flaws in these programs Be warned though, that Service Pack 2 caused so many problems on machines, that Windows stopped distribution thru its automatic update system.

Switching to a browser such as Netscape (http://channels.netscape.com/ns/browsers/default.jsp) or Mozilla Firefox (http://www.mozilla.org/) will deter the trojans...for now....

I got infected with spyware the other day.I had to call an expert to come clean it up for me.He worked for hours but finaly got it cleared up.He said I had something like 1100.

A couple of programs that will remove spyware from your computer, i use both of them and they work wonders:

Ad-Aware (http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022-10319876.html?tag=lst-0-2)

SpyBot Search and Destroy (http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-Destroy/3000-8022-10289035.html?tag=lst-0-2)

...hehe, these programs will do the same thing for free that 'experts' charge an arm and a leg for...

I use it too, and sent them 5 bucks even though it was free just because it was such a valuable tool.
