Who heard the booms/explosions and where (geographically) were you located when you heard them?

My parents heard a series of them in Jasper.

I heard them, hell they woke me up!!!

I'm in Richardson, Texas. About 10 miles or so north of Downtown Dallas. Had several friends in the Plano area call me and ask me if I heard the booms also. Plano is a little farther due north of me.

It woke me up too.I was in Ennis, which is about 30 miles south of Dallas. When I went outside and saw it in the sky, I thought we were under attack. I just let out a deep sigh and was suprised when I turned on the news.

I was in Burleson, which is about 10 miles south of Ft. Worth. It was extreamly loud, but I just thought it was a transformer that blew.

I heard it also. I was at the computer and it was loud enough that I thought something hit the side of the house. I went outside to look, not knowing that the shuttle was even due to fly over. And my wife was out at a garage sale and heard what she thought was a loud rumbling. It was sublime to know what the sound actually was.

Hey spiveyrat...and everyone else! I know it's been a while, but I'm back. What a sad day that was. I woke up and logged into Yahoo (at about 11:30am your time) and it was the first thing I read. I was stunned just like everyone else and still can't believe I'm sitting here writing about something so terrible. Anyway, my thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends of the astronauts and everyone involved with the investigation.
