Shreveport Evangel. Saw them two weeks in a row now. That defense is the most solid I have seen in some time. If you ever get a chance to watch this team, take it. You wont be dissapointed.

what makes it so awesome?
The players or the scheme?

Players. Cant run on em between the tackles cuz they are so stout, can get the corners cuz they are too quick.

I think that Evangel and Seattle use the same scouting and recruiting services.:D

I never can get a straight answer on the rules about recruiting and what not with those schools in Louisianna.

Oh they don't recruit.....they provide "need based scholarships".....and they have their own little type of red-shirting promising 8th graders....actually holding them back an extra year between 8th and 9th grade.....they call it grade "8+"

They (Evangel) have 3 eight graders on thier roster!

Didn't Abilene High just beat them last Saturday 19-14 at Texas Stadium? Dropping them to 1-3 on the season. Two losses to Texas teams (the other being Longview) and one loss to an Arkansas team.

You have got to be a heck of a football team play Abilene and Texas high close. Even if you do lose.

They should list the home towns for the kids on the roster.

I have a friend who lives accross from that school. It is VERY small. I don't know what they do, but they always win....I mean always.

They are a private christian school if I recall correctly.

They've lost to Longview the last 3 years. They do recruit although they have such recognition now that good players, particularly quarterbacks, go to them. They have had some players come through there.

The best defense belongs to the 4A #1 and undefeated Bay City Blackcats. You can say "you have never seen this LA team, but I can say "you have never seen the Blackcats." They can stop the run and pass all day long. Their secondary is so good they can match up man to man and 7 or 8 in the box and stop the run and pass. Size and speed galore, and they will knock the hell out of you. They have to be the best I have seen. Their D Line stops the run and puts great pressure on the QB, and you surely can't run outside. They run a basic 50 defense.

I don't think I would tell Gsquared that he has never seen ANY team. He has probably seen Bay City play. Heck, he has seen just about everybody play. He goes to about 50 hs games a year. And does not follow any single team.

I think he was a witness to the Cuero/Wharton game this year -

That's where Brock Berlin is from. I've heard it called the quarterback academy because of all the blue-chips that come out of there.

The QB they have now is really really good. Not real big though. I think he is 5'11 175lbs. Man, he throws it on a frozen rope!
