I'll take Wylie by 7.

This should be a great game. I think it could go either way, I'll give the edge to Decatur by 3 because of home field advantage.

I'll pick Wylie in a close one.;)

Decatur has impressed me this year but I have repect for Wylie as well, but I have to give the advantage to Decatur in this one by a TD 28-21

Decatur. I'll give Decatur the edge on this one since it's at home. Wylie's run defense looked impressive against Vernon and Graham. They have some injured DBs and had to make changes for the Graham game. Decatur will certainly test them to the max.

Saw Wylie play against Graham. They are a great team. This one will be tough for Decatur. Wylie has an extremely good O-line, and D-line. I think the ground shakes when that O-line comes running to the line of scrimmage. Man are they big and strong. The whole team is physical and has good speed. Decatur will have to play well on both sides of the ball to come out with this one.

I just have a funny feeling about this one:

Decatur - 54
Wylie - 27

Ill tell ya one thing, we would be singing a different song if this were being played in November at Shotwell. Cold windy and hard to chunk it!

I'm gonna say Decatur by 7 in a really good game. I think I'm going to go to this one as the Bulls have a "bye".

yeah...i guess is this game was in shotwell later in the year Dane would throw for 300 instead of 400...

Why would it be at Shotwell. Last I checked Wylie has its own stadium.

Gsquared

I think Wylie plays alot of its home and homes at Shotwell during the playoffs.

Johnny Moxen

Wylie hasn't played any games at Shotwell, at least since I've been watching and that dates back to the 2000 season. You must be confusing Wylie as part of the AISD district, which is is not.

Wylie has played a few playoff games at Shotwell, but they have a nice enough stadium that they usually opt for a home playoff game instead.

The last playoff game in Shotwell that I can remember was an ugly loss to Springtown around '95, (58-20?). In the early nineties, there was a thrilling win over Crane one week and then a blowout dealt by Vernon on the way to Vernon's state championship. I remember thinking that the Vernon players looked like college players with both size and speed.

Sure wished I could see this game. I'll take Wylie by 6. Wylie is just way too much team this year. Ask Graham??

everyone around was saying the decatur-gainesville game was gonna be close, and well, that game as everyone saw decatur just let 'er rip, and played a little "git 'r dun" and won by a land slide, so i like decatur by about 31. they know how to prepare for a big game, and like anyother game they are playing this season is a big game. they are also at home.

I will have to say Decatur will win this one by at least 14. I am not saying that Wylie is not very strong this year, but Decatur is just too strong for Wylie especially with Decatur playing at home.

Decatur: 42

Wylie: 28

After thinking about this one, I really think this is going to be decided by a touchdown or less. Another shocker, a fairly low scoring game. No team with more than 21 points. Im taking Decatur, they will grind it out for the W

VWG

I think the keys to the game for Wylie will be to put the QB on the ground, and when Decatur catches the ball they need to drill the WR's into the ground. With the size of Wylie's line if they can put pressure on the QB and make him feel some good hits early then he could get happy feet and start to lose his concentration.
I think Hugh Sandifer is one of the best coaches in the state and I am going to say that this will be one of his toughest games to plan for.
Decatur must defend against the multiple sets that Wylie will throw at them. Decatur has played Gainesville (spread) and Graham (split veer). With Wylie they will run split backs, I-formation, trips receivers, two receivers, motion.... you name it they will run it out of their pro-style offense. They will balance the run and the pass. Decatur has a good defense and their linebackers are going to be key in stopping the run and the short passing game that Wylie can kill you with.

No single team has held Decatur to under 20 points in while Dane has been QB.

I think it ought to be a great game. I heard that an expectation of about 7000-10,000 (obvious approximation) fans for this game, is this some what of an accurate figure?

If that many people show up then you better get there at 5 cuz that stadium seats 2500 people AT THE MOST!!!  That being said, I am probably only go as far as Graham so I can see my family and watch a bit of the Graham/Marlin game but I sure do wish I could go to Decatur...and I just might if you go too G!

That is what happened to Decatur last year against Vernon. 35 mph wind through an open stadium. The difference is their running game this year.

If you think the stadium only seats 2500 you have not seen it lately. It holds almost that many in the upper deck on the home side.

I believe that he said that, because if you look us up on that website with all the stadiums and directions on it, that is what it says. The numbers haven't been updated since the stadium was updated.

Decatur must be alittle worried about Wylie. I counted 14 Decatur coaches at the Wylie/Graham game. I think it'll be a close game but I am taking Wylie by 7 in this one.

I am well aware of the offense, just hopefully Wylie will have defense that that can slow that offense down some. I know that we don't have the "iron curtain" defense that Clyde has but our D-line and LB's can really get after a QB. Don't over look our offense as well. We can really slow the game down with our ball control and eat away at the clock as well. In addition, we can put up the points with the best of them.

Decatur greatly respects Wylie. It was Decatur's off week so all the coaches were available. However, Decatur does not have 14 coaches. Although there were coaches there. some of those you counted may have been Decatur fans who just wanted to see a good game and see our next opponent.

You might want to look again. It was Decatur who held the ball with control offense VS Graham only allowing the Steers to have the ball for 7:20 in the entire 2nd half.

After Wylie soundly defeated Graham and then seeing them beat Vernon I do know that they have a heck of a defense. I think Wylie will score some points as well. The Qb is a heck of a player. I saw Dane play Vernon last year and he is a very good passer. I would say he throws it on a rope. Plus with their ground game and the passing, it will be a tough test for Wylie.

I'm glad to see so many of the of the upper tier teams playing each other in non-district. That in my humble opinion will help them down the road.

I still think the defenses are going to be the story of this ball game.

Johnny Moxen

Have to agree with Gsquared, defenses will be the story of the game. I don't think that we can completely shut down Decatur, but if we can hold them to about 21-28 points, our offense is able to put up that many points.

All the talk has been about the Decatur offesne, can anyone speak as to their defense?

i can by sayin that we held grahams 300 rushin avg to nowhere close to 300,and tryin to score 3 tds on us will be no easy task either terrius purvey also was held to under 100

as long as decatur's D can hold Abilene to 30 they will be alright. Decatur will score more then 30

I don't think that Decatur will be able to stop Wylie. Besides, holding Graham to under 300 is not that hard. I am unsure if they even reached 150 yards on us and most of that (i.e. 75 yards) was on two runs on their first possession.

Looks like Decaturs defense may be as strong as the offense. Christian is a HOSS! Broke up one one TD pass while playing defense and picked off another pass. Had some td's on offense as well. I think this may answer Sleepy's question about players going both ways.
