If you are talking about 3A only, definitely '83 Daingerfield.

i think most people will agree '83 dangerfield wins, but 2nd would have to be the 2003 Gainesville leopards

83 Dangerfield No question!!!!

homer pick !!?!?! :D

I think some of the Soutlake Carroll teams of the early 90's would argue that .... like the '92 team that went 16-0 & won the title game 48-0

Or Erik Dickerson's '78 Sealy team

83' Dangerfield but South Lake is a close second, very close.

All of you are wrong! It was the 1980 Pittsburg(TX) team that went undefeated and shut -out 13 opponents.

In 3A?

I would give the 1980 Pittsburg team second. The 1983 Daingerfield Defense was not scored on the entire season. The team gave up a total of 8 points all given up by the offense.

This shouldn't even be an argument, folks, unless you're arguing second. I don't think that anyone who's heard about that '83 Daingerfield team would go against them. They led all classifications that year in scoring defense (and set the bar in record books for that matter) and were in the top five in scoring offense, hanging about 40 points per game on everybody. I want to say that they allowed something like 80 yards a game (don't quote me on this... if somebody knows the exact, ridiculous number feel free to post it) through the regular season and the playoffs. I remember that it was insanely low, and that was even after playing six playoff teams. They outscored their opponents 631-8, didn't allow a single defensive TD, posted shutouts in 14 of 16 games, and went off for a UIL record 13 shutouts in a row. That record still stands. Through the season, they plowed through four teams ranked in the AP poll, and there wasn't a team that came within 28 points of beating them. Oh, and they hold the modern record for fewest points allowed (in a season that extended beyond 10 games). That's dominance. They also hold the eighth-biggest blowout in Texas Bowl history, by 42 points over 3rd-ranked Sweeny.

I've always heard it was Daingerfield, but I didn't know they were THAT dominant.

no offense but where did this question come from???
most people would be asking about there offense or how there defense was so dominated.. Why in the world were you wondering about the Punter!?

My guess is that if Daingerfield DID punt, they had a good one that kept the field long for the opposing team. You don't alllow ZERO points on Defense in 16 games by letting the other teams start at your 40.

maybe they just had a good defense.. if your only giving up 80 yards per game then it doesnt matter where the ball starts..
