Nice top 25 there matt....the only thing I would change is to put Wharton in there...they are the real deal....and MAYBE just MAYBE put Gainesville at around 19-25.....laterz

I saw Iowa Park beat Wichita Falls High. This team is very, very good.

Gainesville just went in stealth mode, they will be performing sneak attacks from under the top 25 radar from now on

The top 25 list isn't bad. But I think a few things need to be modified. Iowa Park beat Decatur (#2) in a scrimmage, and is fresh off a win over a 4-A power house. They have beaten three 4-A schools so they haven't gotten to 5-0 by picking on smaller schools. Last week Iowa Park was officially 18th in state, and considering they just man-handled a team with twice their numbers, they should be a lot higher up. Iowa Park needs more respect than a #25 team.

these polls sometimes look into seasons past and see what teams did what at what point in the season. iowa park is just now coming into this w/ an undefeated schedule, as they have all year, but they havent proven themselves in the past so they are trying to prove themselves now. if they keep on winning you wont have to worry about any of this, ktulu.

Iowa Park is a very good football team, but Wichita Falls is definately not a 4a powerhouse. They are really just an average 4a team.

Just an honest opinion here... they're very well coached... But the depth just isn't there, how many guys did you count on the sideline when 11 men were on the field? I didn't count many in Brownwood when they played Wimberly...

Also, the o-line, though they have size, needs to work on blocking a tad better... #72 is huge (what is he? about 6'6 260?), but not so huge when playing on his butt, he needs to stay lower to the ground...

The poor QB can't get 'em too far by himself, which is the reason they beat Wimberly, this guy is pretty good at scrambling etc...

Defensively they'll be 'okay', but both sides of the ball need some speed (Or maybe it is because I watched the Wharton/Cuero game the night before and the Hawks/Texans game looked like it was in slow-motion?)!!!

Out of the teams we've played this year, they MAY have beaten West Oso... La Grange, Wharton, Sealy and Sinton match up very well with the Hawks but would pull away in the end (depth, speed and athletes on top of athletes)...

I know it was the only week 3, but still, I just do not see them getting passed many Region 4 teams, and since everyone seems to think Region 4 has traditionally week teams, then I'd have to assume Iowa Park would be a door-mat up there...

But, as I've said before, the coaching at IP won't be the problem, I mean, they look good, but I've seen four teams that can beat 'em...

Good luck to IP, though, prove me wrong!

Man, was it Gobbla2001 saying that Gainesville wasn't gunna be as good as last year when people were saying they'd be the same if not better?

you are just tryin to get a reaction out of me huh???

nobody said they were gonna be better.. its hard to be any better then they were last year, but i did think they would be better then they are now and i am eating crow with every loss we take, its hard not to be optimistic about your team coming off of a 15-0 state championship, isnt it???

no fan esp. a state champion fan is gonna come back next year and say "oh our team is gonna go 7-3 in the regular season and get knocked out in the first round"

so lay off of gainesville they are young and has the ability to shock people in the play offs if they can get everybody healthy and get the offense rolling again

No, not you, Keith... This really isn't a shot at Gainesville OR you...

Remember me arguing with a couple of folks about it earlier in the season? Remember me saying Gainesville would be good but may struggle a little bit? It wasn't a shot at Gainesville OR their fans, just some folks saying I was crazy for not thinking they'd do the same as last year while teams in their Region were improving...

I think Gainesville will make the playoffs and go a few rounds (as I've posted before), just do not believe this is the same Gainesville as last year, one of the best teams 3A has seen is over 15 years...

We have 28, including injured.

You either mean me (74) or #79. I'll assume 79, because those guesstimations on your part are about right for him.

Good luck to IP, though, prove me wrong!

Count on it. :D

Well, I know you saw the Wimberley game, and trust me on this one, the O-line has improved a lot since then.

Maybe him, then, how big is he? He was the biggest guy on the line and was on the left...

I'll have to ask Gsquared when he gets on tomorrow, maybe he remembers...

either way, the kid needs to stay low...

Glad to hear your line is doing better...

We did scrimmage IP and i suppose they did get the win.........even tho it was a scrimmage.....but i would like to see them again in a real game........and they were very low in depth, it looks as if half the team is on the field at one time

Decatur2004

We srimmaged Kennedale for a half and were up 26-0 and im sure they would be alot closer than that in a real game.........scrimmages are nothing

Decatur must be this years scrimmage state champion..

Gainesville held those honors last year when they beat forney by beating forney in there scrimmage... so maybe that is a good omen

Yes, it was on 1st downs and they got them when our safety intercepted Finley's pass, actually no, that was after we had made enough penetrations, but that was when we got the ball last. Maybe Cuero was looking ahead, but also there is the other side of the story, because I don't recall you'll having any turnovers, other than that late INT, which pretty much sealed it for us. You’ll didn’t breakdown or anything like that, it’s just that our little guys were giving it all they had plus more. I remember this team being HUGE, they looked like a Div I team, like a Baylor cuz of the colors. And our coach at the time, was Coach Tony Villarreal, don't know if you heard the story but he scouted you'll pretty good, he was scouting you'll all year even subscribed to your local paper. :D They started working on that game the same day on the bus, on the way home, from the big time loss the year before, and that is no joke. He was like an obsessed man and was now on a mission to beat Cuero. I remember the games before the re-match, specifically the game against Carrizo Springs, where the Coach Tate was quoted as saying, “It was like they were on a mission..” If I am not mistaken you’ll were ranked #3 in the nation. But, yeah that was an awesome game, we had our side all filled up and even over flowed to your side. By the way I have the whole game on VHS, if you want to watch it again I can send you a copy?
