The Fairfield Eagles definitely justified their #5 state ranking tonite after they traveled to Groesbeck and demolished the Goats. It was 42-0 at halftime and Groesbeck coaches ran the clock the whole second half. Fairfield only had 277 yards of total offense, but played a short field all night. They held Groesbeck to 13 total yards, and if not for Groesbeck's last drive of the game against the subs, they would have been in negative yardage. Fairfield rotated 5 running backs and also had 7 different receivers catch passes. This is one of the most balanced teams in the state with no real premier players that you can "key" on. Their defense is also definitely getting back to the position that they occupied last season. The district race is gonna be one to watch in 19-3A.
