This was a heartbreaker...we scored on our first possession and that was it. We held the Dogs at 0 till about 11:00 in the 4th when they finally got on the board. The Dogs really clicked on the 4th when the Kats really started making mental mistakes...there was some of the dumbest play calling in that final period from the Kats side. Lyford just started pounding the ball the entire 4th and would occassionaly breakthough but it finished at 7-7. Raymondville had the first possession in OT and couldn't do anything with it...on our second to last play of the game Wolfe went down with what seemed to be a hand injury...so they sent in the backup QB and he misses the snap and Lyford recovers...it only took the Bulldogs a few tries to get that ball in on 2nd and 12...a bunch of missed tackles and the kid was in for the final TD. This was the best Battle of Willacy County I've ever seen too bad we were on the lossing end. It's gonna be hard for the guys to get over this one...I just hope they don't get too down on themselves.
Last year the Bulldogs lost and eventually won the district championship as the roles are reversed hopefully the Bearkats can look past this loss and keep there heads up.
