In fact next to Notre Dame the University of Texas has the toughest and the roughest regular season schedule of all Division 1 colleges. Consider their 2004 schedule:

1. North Texas State - This is their only breather so to speak. I thought it was easy but on further analysis it is clear that North Texas State was tougher than most of us gave them credit for. Remember they got two of the top thirty recruits this past spring. This team was tough.

2. Arkansas - a constant powerhouse in the past with great tradition. Plus the game was in Fayettville. A tough win for Texas against a great team.

3. Rice - a perenial powerhouse. Remember they once won the old southwest conference at least once every four years for a long time and are a dangerous team.

4. Baylor - the team that produced Don Trull and Ronnie Bull is certainly to be considered dangerous.

5. Oklahoma - no need to elaborate here.

6. Missiouri - a consistent top team. Very dangerous. That is where Johnny Roland played.

7. Texas Tech - another great Texas team that showed they are dangerous by beating an outstanding TCU team.

8. Colorado - always a good tough team to play. Remember the game is in Colorado this year. That increases the risk.

9. Oklahoma State - always dangerous. Remember they have beaten Oklahoma in the past. Jimmy Johnson turned this team around in the 80s and they are now super dangerous.

10. Kansas - a tough state school and the game is in Kansas. Very dangerous. And don't forget the great Wilt Chamberland went to Kansas.

11. Texas A&M - just throw away the records of both schools when these two teams play and watch a thriller. Just bear in mind though that the Aggies won the National Championship in 1939 and the great Heisman Trophy winner John David Crow went to Texas A&M.
