Novrosky's on Texas Avenue. Tuffy's in Mauriceville at Hwy 62 and Hwy 12. Spankys in Orange on 16th Street. Guadalajara on MacArthur Drive where the old traffic circle used to be.

I think I will have to try Tuffy's. I have heard a lot about that place!

Esther's under the big bridge for seafood near BC...Anything else--Robert's Meat Market #3, 3720 West Park Avenue, Orange, Tx Phone 409 8830979
This place is quite outstanding. Coming down Hwy 87 from Jasper; just a little past the LC-M school, at a light, Martin Luther King Drive heads off to your right. Go across I-10 and turn left at the light on Strickland Drive(second light). Go about one block distance and turn left on W. Park Ave. the restaurant is right there on your left. It always has an outstanding buffet type meal and a great menu.

Esther's under the bridge is a good choice. Make sure to get the cajun potatoes with your main dish.

I think that sounds about right. I DO NOT expect a blowout! It is going to be a tough game for both teams.

BC has in fact "stolen" games from Jasper in the past that Jasper was picked to win. But, Jasper has done the same to them. The two teams have not played much in recent years, but there IS a history between the two teams. It should be a good, tough fought game. BC will be out to avenge their shutout defeat from two years ago in the Dome. :) Jasper will be just trying to get along. ;)

This place is quite outstanding. Coming down Hwy 87 from Jasper; just a little past the LC-M school, at a light, Martin Luther King Drive heads off to your right. OC: Do you mean hwy 62 instead of 87? I don't think there will be anyone from Jasper coming down hwy 87. That goes through Newton.

To Sriveyrat: I am sorry, I always jump over from Kirbyville to 87 coming into Orange from Jasper, it's slightly closer....If you come down Hwy 62, go under the overpass at I-10 and immediately turn left. It is like an access road--stay right(don't enter I-10 to the left where it forks). Go about 1 1/2 miles on Strickland Drive and you will cross MLK and just a short distance to the left on an oblique street called West Park Avenue you can see Robert's Meat Market on the left. You can see it from Strickland Drive, it's so close....You can also get up on I-10 East to the left and go down to MLK and go back to the right to the corner of Strickland Drive and hook a left and you are right there, also.

Hey! If it's closer, I may just go through Newton and down 87. Probably less traffic as well ?

Old Cardinal

To Dawgmom: I know that down to Kirbyville and hit that cut across road to 87 would leave you with less football traffic from that point on. You may be right, getting on 87 way up your way would certainly be less loaded with traffic. If you did that, just take MLK to the right and it puts you almost over to Hwy 62(maybe travel 1/2 mile west on I-10).
You folks drive carefully on your journey. We are all excited at both towns to see our youth have a good season.

This thread was four pages back. I thought Jasper and BC fans would be talking a little more about this game.

To all Jasper fans: the route that OC is suggesting is, with out a doubt, the best option. I make the trip from Orange to Jasper once a week and the route down 87 has less miles, less construction, less traffic and, best of all, less cops!! You will get there 10-15 minutes quicker taking this route. Just take a left at the first light in K'ville coming from Jasper, it is the quickest cut across to 87. :D

highway 87 is a really winding road in spots. I would wait till Buna to cut across.

Old Cardinal
09-22-2004, 06:59 PM
Hup, Most of the winding road(87) is north of where the crossover road from Kirbyville intersects Hwy 87. That road from that point south is quite improved and fast all the way till just past the LC-M HS where you take MLK(to right) over to I-10; thus by-passing all the lights and Orange slow traffic limits. The loup MLK has one light on it, no traffic and is always just clear sailing.

OldCard...I know you probably already posted this but would you please send me directions via K'ville? I appreciate it!
Any of you BC folks coming up tonight for the Freshman/JV games?

Old Cardinal
09-23-2004, 10:34 AM
To DawgMom: Coming south into Kirbyville, take the first light and go left over to Hwy. 87 (per WOS1 previous post on here). Then follow my previous post about getting on MKL (go right) past the LC-M High school at the first red light. Have a safe trip down. We too look forward to an exciting game down here.
