Not bad against a team we weren't even "supposed to be on the field with"! Good game Buckeyes. That defense gets better every week, and the offense is finally clicking.
The unofficial tally for offense is 546 yards:
316 by air
230 by ground

If this doesn't get Gilmer into the AP Top 10, nothing will.

Gilmer wasn't even at full strength for this game. Terrance Lovely will be out until the Gladewater game on Oct. 22, but it doesn't look like we will miss him that much with Jeremy Skinner running the way he is.

This team is actually ahead of last year's in every category except some aspects of special teams.

Paris has some big ol' boys.
#84 is a very tall and athletic WR. He's not very special on coverage though when he plays DB. We had him beat six or seven times in the game.
Their QB is kinda a small kid. He doesn't respond very well if pressured evidenced by Kevin Hollis' interception of the screen pass, where the QB just tossed it to avoid the sack.
Their line is very big, but not very athletic. Quickness seems to be the biggest weapon against that size.
Defensively, they seemed disorganized throughout the game. They cannot defend the pass at all, and although their defensive line outweighed our "O" line by about 40lbs. per man, they got very little pressure on Manuel Johnson, our QB.
Overall, with the weapons that Forney usually brings to the table, the Jackrabbits should be fine.

One more thing. This game was played in the heat of mid-day. Paris' conditioning seemed very shotty. Alot of their players were cramping pretty badly around the third quarter.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the kudos! Only time will tell. We have a very weak district this year.:)

Apparently my "unofficial" numbers were a bit skewed....oh well!!! It was still a very impressive win for the Buckeyes.

Forney-Paris will be a good game..Forney doesn't have the weapons 3A is used to seeing them have....it'll be a close one....

lets hope ... i like the move Rush made at QB, that will help - I wonder if he's considered letting the feshman play (I doubt it)

Buckeye80, I don't know that your statistics are any less valid than those in the Paris News. It doesn't sound right to me that we had only 177 yards rushing.

One thing the writer for Paris definitely got wrong is saying that B.K. Drennan caught a TD pass. Actually, Tay Bowser caught the one he attributed to Drennan, making a total of two TD catches for Bowser.

Hey Buckeye did you check out the Eiffle Tower while you at Paris? :) (a little humor there!)
