When is the best time to go for it on 4th Down, I mean does field position play a big part, does Time on the clock play a major roles, or does the amount Yds needed make a difference. Can the right or wrong QB and RB make a coach change his mind, and there is always the crowd shouting go for it. I don't know 3ADownlow, let me hear your opinion.

I've seen some teams go for it everytime on 4th down, I guess they think it's better to go for it than punt.

When you don't have a punter ;)

That's an easy question.

The best time to go for it on fourth down is when you have nothing to gain by punting.

2nd best time is when you have to score to win and punting the ball won't get that done.

According to the DMN you don't go for it when you are in front of the band.

When your Wylie and have a 6 ft something 250 + pound center and a 6ft 3 inch 325 pound guard combination. Great for a first down every time.

Anytime you're inside the 50 and don't have a FG kicker that can kick past the line of scrimmage.

when ur within a yard u should be able to go for it anywhere on teh field...but it may not be beneficial....when ur on the positive side of the 50 go for it when ur less than 2 yards away

A very wise coach once told me this.

He said "PPHSfan, there comes a time during the game when all six thousand people in the stadium know who is getting the ball, and where he is going with it.......and you have still got to execute and make the play."

So the answer is.....when you need to.
