Yah, Wharton's 0-2...

They played 4A El Campo week 0 and lost by 7 or so points I forget (El Campo's pretty salty this year), then lost to Cuero...

If you were to see this team play yet not know the results of their games, you'd say there's no way they're 0-2...

Wharton is the best 0-fer team yet IMHO.
Why do they hate the Gobblas?
All the pre-season talk I guess.

i dont think that the tigers hate the gobblers or taht the gobblers hate the tigers....i think that the kids and coaches are very respectful to the each other. i think that the fans and us posters make it seeem like the two teams dislike each other. LOSING SUCKS.... it seems to me that cuero has improved since last year's playoffs and i think that wharton will be better this week than they were last week.
as long as the kids are getting better and having fun then that is having fun, then both brograms will be extremely successful and wont see a reason to hate another team.

The local paper archives shows that Wharton and Cuero have only played 7 times in football. It stands at Wharton 3 wins , Cuero 3 wins, and a tie since the 1950's. Even in 1974 when Cuero was on it's way to it's second state championship the score was just 7-0 . No blowouts. Cuero has a lot of respect for Wharton even though we have not played each other that often.

There is no animosity towards Cuero. The fans and certainly the team know that Friday's game was one of the best played. We all hope Cuero the best of luck this season.

Bellville's first 3 games (Caldwell, Cameron, and Marlin) this year, where tougher than their first 3 playofff games last year (Giddings, Huffman-Hargraves, China Spring). Bellville will be back, this year! The Junior class is very week. They start something like 5 or 6 sophomores. Watch for Bellville to make a charge, starting this week (verse Yoakum).

.
I should have elaborated.
I've been real high on Cuero all year and that one point game opened my eyes. I was looking for reasons as to why such a hard faught game. Not trying to instigate but was just wondering. I guess Wharton had what it took to go toe to toe with the Gobblers. I bought into some of the talk that Wharton was in a "down" year.
Glad to hear that there is alot of mutual respect between your towns.
