I know that some may be getting tired of looking at and arguing about polls, but after reading a lot of stuff about them my interest got peaked. I decided to come up with one. I didn't want to do it based on my own opinion though, because I didn't want to be a homer or rank mostly teams out of our region. So I tried to come up with something more objective. I took the rankings from 4 polls and combined them into one. In case you are interested, this is how I calculated it. I determined that to make the poll you must be in at least 2 of the polls I looked at (I started out with 3, but there wasn't enough teams that made 3 of 4). I also determined that if a team didn't make 1 or 2 polls, they automatically got a ranking of 26 for that poll. Some teams got 26 for two polls. I added up the total value of all the rankings for the 4 polls. The team with the lowest total got 1, then 2, etc... If I do this anymore I plan to add a fifth poll, that is if datapoll is ever up and running again. The polls I used are: 3A downlow (posted by Matthew328), AP poll, TX HS FB poll, and The Harris Poll. Okay here goes. Remember this is not opinion based, purely objective. Oh yeah, also there are more than 25 because the bottom was so close I didn't want to exclude those few teams.

1. Decatur (10)
2. Jasper (11)
3. West Orange-Stark (21)
4. Cuero (24)
5. Marlin (26)
6. Gilmer (31)
7. Kennedale (39)
8. Manor (42)
9. Navasota (47)
10. Sinton (51)
11(tie). Graham , Abilene Wylie (57)
13. Gainesville (58)
14. Liberty Hill (60)
15. Tatum (67)
16(tie). China Spring, Palestine (68)
18. Snyder (72)
19. Spring Hill (76)
20. Vernon (78)
21. Perryton (82)
22. Wharton (86)
23. Sweetwater (88)
24. Barbers Hill (90)

Please let me know if you like the poll, well I guess if you think it is fair. Not everyone is going to like it. If I get enough positive response I will do it on a weekly basis. If not, then I don't want to waste my time or yours.

with every poll some will like it, others wont - depends where THEIR team is.

the question is, if Decatur drops 3 straight & drops out (i know, not likely) will YOU still want to even bother with it? most folks who do their own polls or post polls only do so when their team is up there ........

This is the 3A version of the BCS. A combination of polls. The theory that the errors will be minimized with a large enough sample of polls. It actually seems to work. But ours is better. WE have a playoff!!!!!!

I see your point, but I didn't really know Decatur was going to be #1 until I sat down and started doing it. That is why I did it the way I did, so that it wouldn't seem like a homer poll as most of the ones that people do are. I hope that I am not that much of a fair weather fan, that I would give up on keeping track just because we weren't doing well.

I don't know if I qualify to be compared to the BCS.

High school football proves that college needs a playoff system. How crazy would it be if High School didn't have a playoff system and just picked the 1 and 2 team to play the state championship every year.

I don't know anything about the TX HS poll.

Too bad the Collier-Sharp isn't up. I think it is the best from year to year.

Nice Job.

Where is the link to the TX HS poll?

There used to be a poll called the Composite Poll that averaged them like you are doing here. I just don't know what happened to it.

Ok, based on the response I am getting I will keep it up for a couple of weeks and see how things go.
