Yea right!! you give that poor little struggling 2a a break and it will get you beat by them big time.

I don't think Newton has a chance in this one. They have not played well. Jasper 45, Newton 7.

Looks good to me Santa it would be an early Christmas but maybe it could be a shutout and the beginning of a streak! :D

Only one thing and that is you can count on Barbay haveing the Eagles at the top of their game to play Jasper! It will not be an easy game.

Finnaly, a jasper newton post. Im really excited for this one. im driving back 3 hours to see it. Hopefully it will be an awesome game. Dogs by 14 (at least). :)

I'm gonna make the 2 hour drive myself. It'll be me and my little girl at the game. I can hardly wait!!!

Go Dawgs!!!

I should get you to swing by Tarkington and pick up me and my little boy but I better make our home game this Friday night lest the natives get mad at me. I am not going to miss the Coldspring and Shepherd games though regardless. Those are just too close to pass up.

45-7??? Shutout????? Keep on thinking that way and Newton will hand it to you on a silver platter.

dawgmom
09-13-2004, 11:02 AM
No shut out. This will be a close game. Always is. The rivalry between these two is unreal, and fun. Newton will be ready for us. Question is, will Jasper be ready? I hope we don't go into this week like we did last week and make major mistakes. We better be on our toes, and NO FUMBLES!!!

Also, if you are coming to the game, better try to get there early. Parking will be terrible! Also, if you do get there early, Project Grad will be having a "man-sized baked potato with BBQ" feed in the JR High cafeteria. Help raise funds for a good cause. Just a thought. This starts at 5, I think. Most importantly, if you are coming to the game, BRING YOUR NOISE! :cheerl: SEE YOU THERE!

I agree that it will be a close game but I think it will a high scoring game with the winner having the fewest fumbles.

Reveille

I don't know if both teams will score a lot of points, but I do agree with the fumble part.

Ive heard rumors that Newton had a couple of guys quit at the beginning of the season. Any truth to that? and if so, who were they?

We had 2 not return from last yr.

Jaspers defense is playing great football right now and the offense is getting better every week. If Jasper can put another complete game together with the offense minimizing mistakes and turnovers and playing solid defense a shout out is very possible. On the other hand if the Dogs dont come ready to play it will be a very long night for the Dogs.

No offense Duckbutter but the Dogs are salty this year and ready it seems that the Eagles may be down a bit from their normal form.

I will be here to eat my crow burger if I am wrong about the outcome.

Im really excited about this game this year. I thinkit will be good even though its not for keeps like it was the last two years. And its good cuz someone won't get beat on their homecoming again. Whoops, did I say that? j/k :p

This could be a close game. I'm sure Jasper leads texas high school football in fumbles. I believe 23 fumbles in 3 games. Jasper has got to hold on to the ball. How about a little info on Newton this year. Jasper by 14.

Duckbutter, the guy that predicted the 42-7 is not a Jasper poster. I don't think ANY Jasper fans would be stupid enough to think that, let alone say it. Newton will be fired up for this game because:
1) Jasper has beat them the last three yrs. although they got that 1-0 win via technicality in 2002.
2) Newton would love more than to avenge last yr.'s homecoming loss.
3) They would love to beat a ranked 3A team to prove they can still hang w/ the best of 3A, especially since they lost to Anahuac.

Yep, expect another nail biter folks! No shutouts this Friday.

I am a Jasper poster and i am predicting a shut out I am not trying to be arrogant just confident. If I am wrong I will be here for my crow.:D

Junkyard, you must be smoking something funny to predict a shutout. Mojo, we're probably #2 in HS fumbles, but we've only played 2 games. Pendland, #22, is a junior this year. You probably remember him. In 2 games 477 yards and 6 toucvdowns so far. We're just trying to improve each game. That's why we scheduled you guys and WOS. Schedule the best, then play the rest.

Junkyard
09-13-2004, 08:11 PM
Nope dont smoke.

Well that is why we play the game so we can find out which of us will be right.

Nothing wrong with a little friendly hype.

I still think we can bring home 3 State Titles. WOS- DIV-I 3a,Jasper DIV-II 3a and Newton DIV-I 2a. After this week I will be pulling for Newton all the way.

Realistically a shut out will be very hard against Newton but it is fun to talk about.

Alright then Junyard. I'm too modest to predict a blowout or even a shutout because I don't even want to risk having to eat crow--I gag on that stuff!!!!!!!

You know, Jasper had a couple of senior players, pretty good ones too, quit this year as well. Too bad for them. At least it doesn't look like Jasper will have to contend with a #1 ranking, thank goodness!

Jasper has played 3 games WOS, PNG,and Central. I may be wrong about the fumbles. Should be a good game Newton always plays hard.

Too close to call. Pass. Expect a wild and entertaining game as usual. :)

Do you know who all quit the team?

Hupernikomen
09-14-2004, 12:02 AM
I think Jasper will win the game. I don't think it will be a shutout. And I expect to see the best offensive team that we have played thus far. WO-S still not clicking on offense, PNG was good, but I think Newton rushing attack will give the Dogs a real test. So far we have been up for the challenge against the run, but I tell you I think Barbay has studied the films and will find a way to move the ball. I personally just don't think he can stop Jasper well enough to win.

This thread just isn't getting the attention it got last year. I had to go 3 pages back to find it! We must have a lot fewer Newton fans on the DownLow this year. There are a lot of new Jasper faces on here, though!

There are a couple over on the 2A site. Maybe it will get going the next couple of days.

The same with the LH/Burnet game. It makes a lot of difference the game becoming a friendly rivalry instead of being "competition" for the same goal.

Good luck to both teams!

Part of the problem with their site is that it's broken down into too many sections. That's my .02 cents anyway.
