This Week's Pick 'em...

This week Slpybear does things a little different and chooses a team which we picked just a few weeks ago... Liberty Hill.

Manor will be coming to town and this looks to be one of the best matchups in state.

Poll should close on Friday.

REMEMBER: If you think you know of a great matchup in the coming weeks, feel free to send a PM and let me know...

Last Week's Pick'em...

Last week we picked the match up of Decatur Vs. Gainesville in what many folks think will be the first of two meetings this year. I don't know if many folks would have predicted the final score, but again, a majority of Down Lowers picked the winner correctly...

We had 31 of 58 folks responding pick correctly. Our winning percentage in week 3 was 53.4%...

2004 Season Results...

(Click on a Week to be taken to that thread...)

Week 3 - Decatur vs. Gainesville - 31 of 58 - 53.4% week 3 - 57.1% cumlative YTD (http://bbs.3adownlow.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=18430)
Week 2 - Liberty Hill vs. Burnet - 32 of 48 - 66.6% week 2 - 59% cumlative YTD (http://bbs.3adownlow.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=18151)

I'll take manor by 14. Swain is gonna do what Shipley did the last two years to them.

Just wanted to wish the Mustangs good luck on the upcoming game, wish I could be there, but can't afford the gas (tee hee). Anyways, I'll keep coming to the home games and whatever's close! I know ya'll have what it takes to bring home another win, so keep doing what you're doing....Ya'll make me proud to be from Manor!

Go get 'em Mustangs!

I saw on another thread where Manor had a grand total of maybe 250 rushing yards through three games. I know they were in all of them, and I know their passing totals were outrageous, but less than 100 yards a game? Am I not seeing the big picture? I haven't seen them play, but I've heard they're awesome. Is there anyone out there from Manor (or maybe one of the teams they've played) that can enlighten me about this 3A juggernaut that doesn't seem like much of a running threat.

By the way, good luck to both teams. I hope the Big Guy keeps all the players safe. Should be a good game.

Go back & reread the first part of the post. ;) Manor has only played 2 games; they were open last Friday. BYE's defense completely shut down their running game. :D

I'm taking LH, they are one of the toughest, hard hitting-est teams around, and as a unit they are quite fast! They play smash mouth football like it was meant to be.

If Manor has a good passing game look for this to be a closer game than most are predicting. L.H. has had a hard time defending the pass in the past. (Burnet, Yoakum, etc).

Manor does not run the ball alot at all. but when they do its usually option type stuff out of the shotgun. similar to what texas runs with vince young and cedric benson. but they dont need to the quarterback from Manor threw 3 touchdowns the first game and 4 the second game, they throw the ball alot and they have some ridiculous targets. First of all we all know about Anthony Swain, 6'2" and will outjump anybody. Then they have Ernest Quander who is 6'4" and can stretch the field. If u try to take swain out of the game there are plenty of more reciecers for the quarterback to go to as he did against del valle and johnston when swain was doubled the quaterback had one on one's everywhere else. And even if u drop back the quarterback had great mobility. So if its true about liberty hill and having a hard time with the pass i expect a long night for them. But dont let the rushing stats fool you cause manor does have a very capable runningback in mark davis just he is in a texas tech style offense and mainly gets draws and options. I still think manor by 14

Manor is a great team... but Liberty Hill will be really focused at home for this game. The game is at LH field isn't it LHMOM? Anyway I pick LH by 3

Yes, sir. If the Burnet/San Marcos game get too "boring", feel free to leave early and drive back to Burnet via LH. :D

You are absolutely correct. Here's hoping that all players remain uninjured. Travel safely.
