It was an interesting ballgame. The Cardinals used 3 QBs and six backs in the contest. Kirbyville has the talent but have not got the teamwork coordination down like BC. It was kind of an ole countryboy whipping tonight.
Don't write Kirbyville off however, they have the extreme talent to be explosive by playoff time.''

Orangefield was behind 19-0 at halftime and came back to win the second half 14-0; thus, the final score ended 19-14, for LCM. LCM is a high enrollment 4A and field a giant line on offense and defense. BC plays them next week. Now that should be quite amusing if BC can take them and go--3-0, into the game with #1 Jasper(in my opinion),-- the following week. This is a tough little Bridge City team; they will do their best to play you a ballgame.

This team might be young, but they are gelling as a team. Congrats to BC on their win, and good luck to Kirbyville...they are a team to be reckon with

Congrats to the Cardinals. Great win tonight. We fought back in the second half, but couldn't quite pull out a win against LC-M. Ya'll should be able to take them next week.

Bridge City came in with a bunch of untested Juniors to play a fairly stout preseason. Many of us thought it might be too tough a schedule. So going 2-0 against two seasoned teams, so far, is to be commended.
In a way, they have chosen to learn by playing teams with a lot of seasoned skilled ball players. It's just amazing what dedicated teamwork has done for them. Now this big group of Juniors won District as 9th graders and beat Jasper's(9th grade) 14-0 in a kind of post season matchup... Likewise, the little QB that carried the ball 6 times getting 67 yards and two touchdowns last night, Johnny Dishon, a Sophomore-- as a running QB completely dominated Jaspers 9th grade for a three or four TD win last year. This was after BC had just won their own 9th grade District Championship.
The 3 QBs really impressed me last night. Slinging QB Broc Haymon(Jr.) with his great baseball arm is back from an injury. Also, Jadon Ellender(Jr.) was on target with a 22-yard strike to Darrel Stevens(Sr.) down the sidelines. When Cody Sparks and Darrel Stevens-- two towering basketball players go down and out for passes, they both look like mis-placed basketball players with top sprinter speed.
Several years ago,Sparks came in to the HS District track meet to replace an injured Matt Peebles on the 110 low hurdles and-- bless Pete-- he won the race while still a ninth grader. Personally I would use the 6' 3" 200 pounder at fullback because of his speed. Most of the time, he plays Defensive End and he was able to totally shut down Kirbyville's wide game to the strong side. Sparks can scholarship in track, baseball, football and possibly basketball--he pretty well will have his choice two years from now. All in all, the Cards have not "arrived" but they will play you an aggressive teamwork inspired ballgame.
Kirbyville made a crucial mistake on keying on Dale Armand last night. That let a whole passel of other backs plunder them. Armand had plunged for 178 yards the previous week against Liberty, but it was the second half before he broke for gaping yardage; ending with 92 yards on 15 totes. He was used a lot on getting short yardage for first down purposes.
Gaining 274 yards right down the throat of a good Wildcat touted seasoned defense was accomplished because of a good effort of an active Offensive Line. They may not be able to gobble up yardage against teams in the future but they sure did it to Kirbyville.

Could some of you Orangefield Bobcats and other folks that have seen Little Cypress-Mauriceville play this year give us some information? What makes LC-M tick? Strong points? Weak points? Players to watch?
