View Full Version : My attempt to put together a 3A top 10...

Gobbla2001

1. Graham
2. Gainesville
3. Decatur
4. Kennedale
5. Jasper
6. WO-S
7. Cuero
8. Navasota
9. Gilmer
10. Marlin
and just so you know who is next:

11. Liberty Hill

Those who received some serious thought:
Perryton, Tatum, Manor, Sinton, Longview SH, Lubbock-Cooper, Barbers Hill and Hutto...
All of the teams mentioned from the Top Ten (okay, eleven) and the ones receiving 'serious thought' are going to make this an awesome season of 3A football...

Interesting.... food for thought... thanks

Oops, as always, I've forgotten atleast one team...

Hutto has sparked my interest... They seem to be doing well early on... Though the teams they've been aren't at the top of their game, they're still impressive wins...

I do not know if they should be ranked or not, but they have REALLY sparked my interest, we'll just have to wait to see what these Hippos will do, but they've gotten my attention for the time being...

Yah, I am Crazy...

But Graham looks tough early on, and I figured I'd give the Steers some love...

Prolly crazy for putting G'Ville in the top 10 as well since they've only beaten up on a blocking-sled and a private school so far ;)

Gainesville sure has dominated that blocking-sled though

1. Decatur
2. Jasper
3. Longview Spring Hill
4. Liberty Hill
5. WOS
6. Gainesville
7. Manor
8. Marlin
9. Abilene Wylie
10. Navasota

Also receiving votes: Graham, Cuero, Perryton, Cameron, Kennedale, Quinlan-Ford, Gilmer

I'm reluctant to put Kennedale in there at all, seeing that Quinlan trounced Crandall and Kennedale barely beat Crandall 12-9. I realize it's another week, but I really believe Kennedale is WAY over-rated. We'll see!

Wow, thanks for pointing that out, bulldog92, I was doing some editing, saw that I was already at number 10 and figured that was it, so I stuck Marlin at 11... Thanks, it's still the same order ha...

Now that looks a little better.

What about PI?

In the next three weeks, Wylie and Decatur Play, Vernon plays Wylie, Decatur plays Graham. Vernon didn't any love but not sure their quite ready yet. I'll let you know when they are.

Marlin showed us how much of a powerhouse they were last year in the State Game.

Gobbla I see your giving Barbers Hill some love. Good choice the Eagles are realy looking good and at the rate they are improving I see them in the top 10 before the playoofs begin.

That's another team I forgot to mention, Vernon...

No way Graham is number one... Yeah, they've blown up both of their two games this year. Outscoring both opponents 110-0 in the first half, and the second and third string giving up the only scores in 73-7 and 49-12 victories.
I would give more love to Abilene Wylie, Canyon, Snyder, and Decatur before I give it up to the Steers.
Canyon could sneak up on people this year, as they are looking good in their first two wins. Snyder also looks impressive, and man will that be a tough district battle this year with Sweetwater, Abilene Wylie, Snyder, Merkel, and Clyde fightin' it out for playoff berths.

Oh, but they are (in my poll)...

Just saw something funny earlier...

I was looking at the Harris Poll for 1998...

They had Newton at #1 (won state in D2)

Daingerfield at around #13 (lost to Newton in State Game)

Aledo at #31 (won state in D1)

Cuero at #8 (lost to Aledo in State Game)

Sealy at #6 and Vanderbilt Industrial at #47 (VI beat Sealy in bi-district)...

Most polls were simular, I remember DCTF having Cuero at 13 and Aledo at 24 or 25 that year... Sealy was #1...

SO basically, I could be wrong, or everyone else could be wrong (Like the Harris Ratings in '98, excluding Newton)...

PI is traditionally a threat, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them in the fight to get outta Region 4, but they're another 'wait and see' for me...

You can prolly add 'em to the list, though, Coach Stumbaugh will try his best to get these boys back to where the finished at last year...

How 'bout the Tarpons of Port Isabel? you might want to keep them at the back of your mind, we might end up playin the Gobblers, it's been a long time coming. Has it been since '94?

Gobbla2001
09-06-2004, 06:28 PM
Yah, I believe '94 was it... It could happen again, you never know...

Also another team in my head is Wharton, they lost their opener to a tough El Campo (4A) and were off last week... I'll know more when I see 'em this week...

.....take who outta where and put what? I like it. Not just because Navasota is up there (which i personally think we've really worked hard to acheive and will continue to do so), but because the other teams are really good. But hey, everyone has opinions.
