What is the feeling about the WOS/Bay City game, on this board? I look for this to be a hard game for the Mustangs. These 2 teams are well coached and match up well.

I don't see WOS pulling this one off.I saw Bay City play Beaumont Ozen sat.,Bay City defense is very tough.Ozen had 98 yds of total offense the first half and -2 yds the second half.Bay City only weakness is on offense and thats cause they are only stopping themselves, Bay City defense will play 7-8 in the box and they will stop the run,and the db they have outstanding speed tough to throw the ball on them they put lots of pressure on the qb and thats how they beat La Marque to. Should be a good game like always.

Who is the head coach for Bay City?

I am thinking it is the Crane Golden Crane's former coach.

Coach Cherry or something like that???

It will be a tough game for both teams. But WO-S does have the talent to win this game. And Coach Hooks being on the sideline never hurts. WO-S by 3.

The Coach for Bay City is Alan Cherry. I saw that in an interview that he thought that conditioning was the reason that they were able to win the game over Ozen. He was totally elated to win over Ozen, realizing the potential of Ozen HS. I would guess that on down the road that Nederland's only extra thing in their arsenal will be conditioning, when they play Ozen. PN-G also has that particular good trait; they can win in the fourth quarter on conditioning as the edge. I watched Bridge City sustain a win over a good Liberty team in the 4th quarter of play, they were in pretty good condition and just wanted it more than the other talent laden team. If I were to give a reason for Bay City's yearly success, it would be their year round conditioning program and a Coach named Alan Cherry that is a real encourager.

Bay City has to be the favorite to win this game. They looked great in their scrimmage against Texas City, beat two very good teams (Ozen and LM), have great special teams, and an outstanding defense. I think it's going to be a close game and it wouldn't hurt my feelings if WOS got the win, but if WOS is victorious it will certainly be an upset...

BC has a knack for finding good coaches in the 2A/3A ranks. Last year they got Cherry and he took them to the finals. In 2000, they got Chad Morris from Elysian Fields, he took them to 2 finals, winning one and losing the other.

My view is like GS#17. I would love to see WOS pull off the win, but like their last 2 games, it will be a hard battle. WOS has proven this year that they WILL NOT GIVE UP! We'll know Saturday night.

I believe it will be a closer game than most think. 7 points maybe either way.

My heart is with a WO-S win. I have backed them in 4A contest for many years. My mind and what logic I have left says, "If Bay City beat LaMarque when they were #1 in 4A to start the polls and they took our a stout Ozen team, then Bay City has to be the slight favorite in this wonderful contest.
