I wonder if this loss has exposed a weakness and now other teams can start taking DLS apart.

not exactly.. DLS is still a very good team. Bellvue is no cakewalk. They are the three time defending state champs in Washington. The Washington area is often overlooked due to the fact that its out west. Bellvue would have their way with a lot of teams here in Texas. Obviously.. Evangel is a good measuring stick between Texas, California and other states. Lucky for me, I will have the opportunity to talk with some of the Evangel coaches before the Texas High game next Saturday. De La Salle deserves all the credit they can get.. they have been scrutinized, looked upon closer than a microscope and yada yada yada. The DLS Spartans just got manhandled by a better faster and more prepared Bellvue team tonight... now if they had the line that Evangel faced them with, it may have been a different story tonight. Obviously if DLS was going to lose, this year would have been the year due to the youth on that squad. They were more than likely headed for a loss with either Bellvue or Mission Viejo. Unfortunately for DLS, tonight was the night. But by no means is this really an upset.. it is in a way that the llongest streak in high school football history, win or lose, is now snapped, but no, its not an upset on a technical basis.

Where is De La Salle? France? No wonder they had such a long winning streak. This may have been their first trip to the U.S.

Seriously, though, where is De La Salle?

Concord is in the San Fransico bay area if you want to get more specific

De La Salle is a private school in the San Francisco area...

on a note by 3afan, it is fun to see the big dogs lose every once in a while but let me add this perspective.. De La Salle just went through a streak that will probably never be matched by any team this century or perhaps ever. DLS does have another test later this year with Mission Viejo.

They can come a talk when:

1. They have the same recruiting rules as Texas. (except for Jesuit schools)
2. They have a true state championship game, not just a regional game.

Just my .02 cents.

If this were the case then why couldnt the biggest texas private school have the same success by offering scholarships? or do they not offer scholarships?? not trying to argue.. just trying to figure things out

I don't think it will dominate our sport (insert a little optimism) but I think they will win "more than their fair share" of championships in numerous sports within the next 10-15 years.

That streak has nothing to do with recruiting. That streak was a by product of the California Playoff System. Sure DSL had the best school in the Bay area. But they never had to play last man standing football to end the season. Put that same team in a state like Texas for the past 13 years and they would never have seen a 151 game winning streak. Teams like DLS don't have to recruit. If anything they have to turn talent away. California has open enrollment, and all the little stud's daddy's will send them to a winning program given the chance.

still the fact that they rattled off 151 games in a row, winning all of them is an amazing feat.

and its true, the last time that HS lost, the seniors were playin on the kinder playgrounds. . .
