Pair-ing-ton
Pear-y-tougn
Pair-y-tun
Per-ri-town
Pahai-ry-ton

Come on and join in :p

I'm not sure they wil be #1. But who will?

Graham has looked very good! So has Decatur!

Will Jasper drop at all in the AP poll? Has a #1 ever lost, but yet kept the #1 ranking?

Jasper should stay ahead of WOS, but WOS is ranked #2 and won't drop in the ratings after beating an impressive 4A Nederland.

The new number one should be Cuero.

I have no problem with WOS jumping ahead of Jasper. They earned it with a good win.

Cuero probably should be #1, but you usually don't see leapfrogs in the polls.

Hundreds of years ago in 1987, WOS was ranked #4 in 4A, and they defeated the #1 5A team (Aldine MacArthur)

WOS was rewarded with a leapfrog jump to #2 in 4A.

Cuero should move up to the top 3. Maybe first place tie? Jasper and WO?

I know that Polls have a life of their own and when you lose(no matter the strength or classification) you pay dearly with your Poll position. In reality the two top teams that can beat anyone in 3A are Jasper and WO-S; therefore the "Reality Poll" says that they should be tied for the #1 spot at this time, as the best two 3A teams.

Really? Jasper and WOS the best? Thats what was said about Burnet last year. Old Cardinal I expect more than that from you.

What about Decatur, Graham, Perryton, Wylie, Vernon, Gainesville?

To Z: We are all entitled to our opinions, glad to hear yours! I think out of your list that Perryton could give them a game. I don't think the others could do very well in a head-on contest with either.

Perryton will be #1, WOS will stay at #2, and Jasper will move down to 3.

Based on what? Just opinion? Explain and give me something of substance and I may agree...

Z, WO-S beat Bay City(the only team that did it last season) and Bay City won the 4A State Championship. WO-S returned a host of their skilled players. Jasper has been threatening in 3A, they too return the bulk of their players. It's that simple......I agree with the other poster-- Perryton might be placed in #1; and I would not question that--it's the way Polls work... Z, whether you agree or not, I hope you see where I am getting my reasoning.

I see where you are going, but I think that WOS and Jasper are by no means the undisputed 2 top teams in 3A. Those region I teams that I mentioned are all up there with those two. Graham, Decatur, and Gainesville...have all looked very, very good this year.

Things will play out a little better in the next several weeks as these teams schedules pit several against each other and we can really see which teams should be in the top rankings.

Cuero after the LaGrange win is probably the best team at this point in the season.

To Z, Again I respectfully disagree! In 4A premier top 5 Poll teams, they include #1 LaMarque #2 Bay City #4 Nederland #5 Port Neches-Groves....Z that is the kind of teams that Jasper and WO-S are equal to! They play the best available. Your Graham, Decatur and Gainesville are not cutting their preseason teeth by playing members of the top five 4A type teams. These teams(Jasper & WO-S) also play some other very stout teams in preseason of a higher caliber.

I agree with old card i think wos and jasper are probably some of the top teams but i think number1 should be gainsville

I dont see Gainsville being number 1 but i definetly see Jasper and WOS filling in that 2 and 3 spot

I'll go with Cuero as no.1.

Well, I love the dogs, but I feel that WOS will probably take the #1 spot after beating a very good Nederland team. And I think that Jasper will only fall to #2 or at worst 3. But thats just my opinion. No one hired me to pick em.

When is the last time that WO-S beat Bay City in a season where the Blackcats won state, card? It WASN'T last year (they were 'just' finalists)...

Impressive win last year, though...

Lets get one thing straight Cuero is not number 1 or should even be considered number 1. They are a good team in a weak district this year they should make the first 2 rounds of playoffs but that where the buck will stop for Cuero..

K weak schedule weak district blah blah blah it dont matter i havent looked it up but im sure most teams that win it all dont have the toughest schedule but more of a injury free season and peaking at the right time.:hand:

Yes, Gainesville should be number 1. Let them carry that target all year like Burnet did last year. :D

Gobb., You are right, should have been- the only team to beat Bay City till the finals....That series of games through the years characterizes what great HS football is all about.
I tell you what, Bay City beat Beaumont Ozen 20-13 this weekend so that tells me they(Bay City) are certainly right in being ranked #2 in AP 4A Poll right now. Ozen is top-billing and capable of upsetting anyone in 4A.

Decatur won't be rated #1, but they've got my vote.

This team is incredibly good. Just keep watching and you'll find out for yourself.

Good thing we have a playoff system, otherwise the ratings would actually mean something.

Weak district? Not exactly... But I do wish there were more of you posting on here...

We have 8 playoff teams from last year on this year's schedule (West Oso, La Grange, Wharton, Sealy, Sinton, Yoakum, Hallettsville and Edna)...

We've already played two of these playoff teams and are 2-0, 90 points scored and Zero allowed, over 800 yards of total offense and a tad over 200 yards of total offense allowed...

Not making the arguement that we should be number one, just giving the stats for folks who wanna post more about the subject...

I actually wish we were unranked...

it will be Jasper and WO-S. those are the 2 strongest teams in 3A.
i can say that with a unbiased opinion. i did not attend either school.
