MESQUITE –West Mesquite's Larry Owens ran for 222 yards on 14 carries and scored four touchdowns in a rout of Quinlan Ford (1-1) at Mesquite Memorial Stadium.
West Mesquite (2-0) was playing without starting running back Roderick Smith, who injured an ankle in last week's opener. But it didn't matter. West Mesquite quarterback Jonathan Mallard got things started with a 17-yard touchdown on his team's opening possession.
