To answer your question my 3 favorite things about Friday Night Football are:

1. the atmosphere - you know that electric feeling (especially once "football weather" comes into play)
2. your teams' kick off with the band playing your fight song
and
3. watching your team have FUN!! :D

5 hours 15 minutes to KICK OFF!!!!!!!!!!! :cheerl:

1. Seeing how the piddly little town I grew up in and ultimatley came back to, comes together and rallies around a group of kids they've all adopted as their own.

2. Not being the least bit ashamed to stand up and clap along while the band plays "On You Buckeyes" (To the tune of "On Wisconsin"), our fight song.

3. The pride I feel, and I don't know why, knowing that kids from my town can don the jersey that I once wore, and succeed year after year after year.

GOD I LOVE HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Y'all excuse me for a minute.

Saw this from 2 days ago and figured i'd make my 2 cents available

1: hitting someone so hard their helmet comes off.....then getting up and handing it to them

2: fighting a war for 48 minutes and having the determination, endurance and the conditioning to win all 4 battles.

3: Coming in the next morning working out and seeing it all over again on film

You hit the nail right on the head!
I also enjoy "piddly little town" football better than the "city ball" in the metroplex. Where you have to drive at least an hour or more to get to the town where you're playing. Or the excitement a town can generate because of the football team. You can't expect that in Arlington, Hurst-Euless-Bedford, Dallas, or other areas of D/FW.

the pep ralley before the game

right before you run out and you have so many ideas brewing and your adreniline starts rushing and you dream of making the big play

and the game when you could run a 40 in a 4.5 because you go so hard so fast that you are truly using animal instincts

1) The atmosphere -- nothing beats hearing the fight song, the crowd cheering on a big play, everyone sweating to see if he made it on 4th...
2) The intensity and competitiveness of the game -- after a week's worth of newspaper articles, message board discussion, and t.v. coverage, when 7:30 hits, it's on! The players go full-out and every game is an instant classic.
3) Supporting the school -- the players, the booster clubs, the community, etc.

I was a lineman, so my pants were 'extra' tight... if I wore any (In Spanish, Cuero means skin or hide etc..., so we'd play in our birthday suits sometimes)...

Gobbla, I saw your post about West Oso's drill team. Wasn't that a trip? All they needed was a pole to dance on. And some of them were BIG girls. Didn't stop them from shakin' it, though.
