The Burnet offense has only played 2 full games this year, who knows what Shipley could have accomplished if his coach/dad would have left him in. I think it speaks well for father and son who have always said they have their eyes on a bigger prize. The following is an article from todays Austin Amrican Statesman

Burnet

Now that senior wide receiver Jordan Shipley has two state career records, he can concentrate on national marks.

The University of Texas pledge has 4,494 career receiving yards, putting him in third place on the all-time high school mark. The record holder is Abram Booty of Shreveport (La.) Evangel Christian, who had 5,867 from 1993 to 1996. Gerald Parker of Lawrence County, Ky., is second with 4,736 from 1996 to 1999.

Shipley needs 1,373 yards to reach Booty and 242 to catch Parker. If Shipley continues his average of 141 yards receiving a game, it would take him 10 games to break Booty's record. Shipley's only chance is for Burnet to advance deep into the playoffs for the second straight year.

As for the Longhorns, there is no truth to Internet rumors that Shipley will sign a letter of intent with pass-happy Texas Tech come February, his father said Monday. Coach Bob Shipley said his son is looking forward to playing for the Longhorns.

Jordan Shipley likely will finish second in total touchdown catches. Booty holds the record with 83. Tyrone Vaughans of Marrero (La.) Ehret High, is second with 60. Shipley has 58.

Burnet senior quarterback Stephen McGee is largely responsible for his teammate's football success. This season, he has 23 touchdown passes and no interceptions in 153 attempts.

One more amazing fact at Burnet: the varsity, junior varsity and freshman teams are a combined 21-0.

It is nice to see that the JV and Freshman are in the paper today all the guys work so hard. You have put Burnet some where in the title and you would have gotten more response. HA HA HA

It's funny that you never heard of the HS career rec. leaders for yards and td's. What happened to them?

IF they would have been playing the MArion Bulldogs this whole time, we wouldn't even have been talking about a Burnet record, much less a dang Nat'l one...
