9:15 A.M. (5:15 P.M. in Greece)

No updates yet because I am waiting on the final results from the softball game between USA and Australia. Let's hope our ladies can keep up their good work and bring home the goal but Australia will be using their best pitcher and if they get a lucky hit they could win the game. GO USA!

Right after the game our women play Germany in Soccor for the semifinals. I am not sure our ladies can win this game though. I hope they do though. I am sure Sinton 66 and PPHS Fan and others are home right now glued to their tv sets waiting to watch the game. :)

i believe that would be the first run our ladies have given up...they've outscored their opponents like 46-0 in the previos games...very impressive

Our softball team won 5 to 1. Way to go Ladies! They brought home the gold! This give the USA a tie with China in gold medals at 22 each! Overall USA leads in medals 59 to 48 for China! By my system the top teams are as follows:

1. USA with 489 points

2. China with 406 points

3. Russia with 274 points

4. Australia with 270 points

5. Germany with 238 points

6. Japan with 220 points

And the rest of the World follows.

Right now the USA women's soccer team is playing Germany but I don't know the score. Germany is ranked No. 1 in the World so this game will be tough. The USA men's basketball team won easily so they advance to the medal round. Let's hope they have their act together. We will see. GO USA!

It is ok ka because by the time they got that score the USA ladies were in control. Besides it decreases the pressure the next time they play they won't have to have that burden. Plus they are coming home with the gold! :)

did anyone see the phelps and mom interview...what a fantastic young man...i was very impressed with his stepping aside and allowing a teammate to have a chance at redeeming himself...i would much rather hear about acts like this from our athlets than some of the crap i see in track and field, for example...
i wish we had more athletes like him representing us..

2:00 P.M. (10:00 P.M. in Greece) I don't know but final events may be over by now until tomorrow.

As of right now the USA and China are tied with gold medal count at 23 each. The USA leads in total metal counts at 65 to 49 for China and 39 for Russia. I think the USA will win the medal count now unless there is a total colapse since we usually do well in track events and we are down to the last five days which is mostly track. The USA did have some bad luck when one of our shooters would probably have got a gold but he shot at the wrong tarket and that dropped him to 8th place :(. Anyway by my system the point totals right now are as follows:

1. USA with 532 points.

2. China with 416 points.

3. Russia with 288 points.

4. Australia with 280 points.

5. Japan with 234 points.

6. Germany with 226 points.

7. France with 200 points.

The rest of the World follows.

i saw that last night and couldn't believe...could you imagine preparing for several years for something so big and then to pull a goof like that and loose the gold...i also saw the women's marathon runner from great britain...she was the heavy, heavy favorite coming in, but struggled in the heat and scored a dnf...wow
