Might be a stupid question, but what does the number after the team mean? I know it can't be the ranking; ie. Port Isabel 5????

that just means that they received 5 votes from AP voters....the team with the most votes gets the number one ranking and then it just goes down the line....

atlanta had the most votes out of the people that didnt make the Top 10 so that makes atlanta number 11. PI is number 21....

Thanks korder1999, but I still don't understand how did you come up with the number 21???

Ok so if they only got 5 points... 21? Sorry it's monday, I can't think straight right now, I think I need more coffee.

when you look at the top 10...look at the number all the way to the right...WOS received 183 votes...that is the most so that puts them at Number 1....then Jasper is #2 cause they received 175 votes and so on and so on....Gainesville in number 10 with 39 votes. Atlanta recieved 35 votes so that puts them at 11. Diboll had the next most votes so that makes them #12. Liberty Hill had the nextm ost votes so that makes them 13. AND SO ON AND SO ON

next week Atlanta might get more votes then Gainesville...if that happens then Atlanta will move up past gainesvillein the poll.

the AP people submit their Top 10. you get a certain amount of points for being picked 1st, 2nd, 3rd and so on. They take all these AP peoples polls and break them down. Port Isabel is there because they were in Someone's Top 10 poll. If a team is not there in that area th at says (ALSO RECEIVED VOTES) then they were not an any of the AP's top 10 polls

I guess this makes an "official" 1 vs 2 matchup Friday.

Yup, WOS1.

And I think you can safely say the bullseye is on West Orange Stark's back.

That's a pretty close 1 and 2. I think it's safe to say that the top 10 will look pretty different after week 0.

what I found interesting is Atlanta got a first-place vote, but couldn't crack the overall top ten.

Atlanta not being in the Top 10 is nuts. This guys have earned more respect than that of late. Only problem with them is the turnover and the brutal preseason games. No big deal for them to lose 2 or 3 in a row early and then really turn it on in that competitive district.

I don't think so.....I don't see how one person could have something to say about enough threads to fill a page (unless you started dragging up old posts -- please don't do that in your "bored" state!!):p :p :D

And I am glad it is on WOS, that takes a bit of heat off Jasper. However, WOS is one team that has proven it can take the heat. That bullseye means nothing to them. You will see that as the season progresses.

Well, there will be a new #1,#2 line up at the top of the rankings next week. I'll guess that the loser of WOS/Jasper drops to about #5 or so if the game is within 10 points...

Manor returns 15 letterman - 8 offensive/6 defensive starters.

Offense - Returning is the QB, two good receivers, a RB that averaged 8.5 yards a carry before an injury in game 6, and most of the offensive line.

Defense - Return most of the defensive backs. Lost one linebacker and most of the defensive line.

The QB graduated last year. This years QB saw plenty of action last year. Not as good a passer, but can run very well with the ball.

Wasn't Manor handled really well by Wimberley in a scrimmage last week? I know Swain is the real deal, hopefully they can pull it together. BTW, I've been saying all along that Wimberley could be a darkhorse team.
