Most of the events for the day are probably over since it is almost 11 P.M. in Greece. The USA still leads China in total medals 45 to 41 and gold medal numbers 19 to 18. By my system it is USA in first place at 374 and China in second place with 344 points.
In men's basketball USA lost to Lituana (spelling?) 94 to 90 but they are playing much better and still should get to the quarterfinals. This was against a much better team than Italy and Puerto Rico so the guys may be coming together as a team. They need to do a little better on their free throws and long distance throws to get the gold but they are capable. They were killed by letting Lit. score several three pointers by the same player in the last two minutes. There are possibilities but they will have to play their best. GO USA!!
