PILOT POINT – When G.A. Moore coaches a high school football team, it's usually expected they'll make the playoffs. This year should be no different at Pilot Point, where Moore won two state titles and earned 230 wins.

Moore (404-80-9), the only Texas high school football coach to surpass 400 victories, said this year's team is young, but hopes the building blocks of the last two years have set the tone for his expectations.

"We have some younger kids now who have been in the program the last two seasons and see what winning is all about," said Moore, who returned to Pilot Point in the fall of 2002 after winning four straight Class 2A titles at Celina.

Senior Jarail Johnson will return as the featured back behind a bulky, experienced offensive line. But Moore plans to add balance with an effective pasing game.

"You can't just run it and win," Moore said.
