I saw those Cardinals hard at work yesterday and they are looking ready to reclaim their elite status in southeast Texas. WOS---will be the only team to beat them in district this year!

You might be right Smokey. But I'll bet the players aren't ready to give up as yet.:)

Hey smokey, did you go to the BC scrimmage last week? If so how do you think they looked?

I'm just saying I have never herad of a football team that is willing to declare defeat before the game is played. Some teams might not stand to much of a chance in a certain game, but they are not going to say it's over until it's over.I go into every game expecting to win, regardless of who we are playing.I assume the players at Bridge City and other schools feel the same way.

I have seen them a few times in practice. They look enthusiastic and hungry. I am not saying they are conceding defeat to WOS. I amj ust saying that I think they are for sure #2 in that district. Cat22-- we will win the bayou bowl this year. Mark it down!

Man you BC people are still bitter about getting beat by OF last year. Get over it. The better team won that game.

Last year you were right! I am talking about this year! Don't dwell in the past man.

Maybe I took Smokey's comment about we will win this year the wrong way. Too me it sounds like he is still upset that BC lost last year. That's all I'm saying.

That's understandable. I just took it as a little friendly smack talk.

How do the boys from Bridge City feel about their scrimmage against NEWTON next week? Last year when the Cardinals traveled to Newton they left with their wings clipped. But who knows it might be a different story this year.

I am very glad that they will scrimmage Newton. Newton has a great team and great tradition. Last year they(BC) led the score against Newton on into the 3rd quarter; only to fall apart due to lack of depth. I am excited to see these teams scrimmage.

Anyone know how BC did tonight in their scrimmage?

I remember when teams from the coastal bend played Refugio in the 80's and early 90's. What I remember most is what some of those kids said... "we don't want to play them", "they're gonna kill us" were a couple of common themes. Knowing a few from the BC area this IS NOT the case there, but sometimes teams do go into a game knowing they will lose or expecting to lose.
It's a sad fact of football IMHO.:(
.
They are underdogs in this game. I'll root for BC because I enjoy many of their posters and my favorite team has some history with them. They have shown class in their darkest hour, I believe.

It's fun just before the beginning of the season. Everyone has tremendous optimism for the team they root for! We step on toes sometimes but enjoy all the light-hearted banter when the season is here. What a great game!!!
