   I was watching most of the game until my dad stole the remote, and he happened to turn it back right as Tex was being lifted for a pinch runner...I couldn't believe I had missed it! Congrats to Teixeira though and to the Rangers for their play over the last week.

Teixeira hits for Rangers' second cycle

09:54 PM CDT on Tuesday, August 17, 2004

Associated Press

ARLINGTON, Texas - Mark Teixeira became the second player in Texas Rangers history - and first in more than 19 years - to hit for the cycle, accomplishing the feat Tuesday night against the Cleveland Indians.

Teixeira hit a two-run double in the third, a three-run homer in the fourth, a two-run triple in the fifth, then completed the cycle with a leadoff single in the seventh. He was removed for a pinch runner after his single, finishing the night 4-for-5 with a career-high seven RBIs.

Oddibe McDowell was the only other Rangers player to hit for the cycle - on July 23, 1985, against the Indians at Arlington Stadium.

Teixeira is the fifth player to hit for the cycle this season, joining Milwaukee’s Chad Moeller, Pittsburgh’s Daryle Ward, Philadelphia’s David Bell and Eric Valent of the New York Mets.
