Dunno if any of you saw this, but the QB for Perryton has a full page poster deal near the front of Dave Campbell's Texas High School Football Magazine...

The Qb's name is Jeremy Campbell...

Could that be why?

I'm not asking why he has a full page poster... I'm saying that the guy in the full-page poster's last name is CAMPBELL... And is from PERRYTON, who is SUPRISINGLY rated HIGH by Dave CAMPBELL's Texas HS Football Mag...

Not that I know of...

But if some guy named kyle's last name is SMITH.... And Emmit SMITH wasn't a RB that you would generally think of as 'AWESOME', and Kyle SMITH had a mag that said Emmitt SMITH was one of the best RB's in the world, you'd kinda wonder...

The only thing here is, that the possibilities are GREATER due to the smaller geographical area that this 'conspiracy' covers...

You're comparing apples to oranges, and not just by race...

Emmit plays for an NFL team that's not in Texas... Kyle plays for a high school team that IS in Texas...

Emmit is not from Texas... Kyle IS from Texas...

Dave Campbell is from Texas...

Jeremy Campbell is from Texas...

According to most, Perryton was not a team they thought would be awesome this year... DCTF (Owned by Dave CAMPBELL) thinks they're #2 in the state, which shocked folks...

So, I figured that it couldn't hurt sparking this discussion... And MAYBE, just maybe, someone will come on here and verify this if they pass through it...

Reading everything I said (in order, atleast) can really help...

i'm sure it has nothing to do with their 16 starters returning and thats they are in a weak (this year) region 1 ........ and campbell is not the owner, he's the editor-in-chief, and i was told a few years ago by someone who works at the waco tribune-herald and contributes to the mag that its just a symbolic position

My take on Perryton...Perryton will be one of the top two teams in Region 1 Div. II. Sweetwater played them last year and I was highly impressed with them. They are big and fast and have playoff experience Their qb is Merril I believe and he is very athletic.

They will meet up with Vernon and having seen them both, I think Vernon will win. But if the brackets were different, they would meet Vernon in the regional final.

On the downside, one of the Perryton coaches went off on our head coach last year. I hope that isn't indicative of the type of team the Rangers put on the field. I don't think it will be but that coach should have been reprimanded.

Good bit of info, 3afan, thanks for straightening it out for him...

So basically he's there for symbolic reasons? Maybe for 'symbolic' reasons they decided to rank his grandson's team high?

I personally feel there may be other reasons... They do bring back a lot of players with experience in playing with each other...

But the big questions since the rankings have come out has been "Why is Perryton ranked so high?" Figured I'd fuel this arguement a tad...

I like the post. Especially how things operate in Good ole boy country. However, I think Perryton will field a very good football team. They did well last year and two years ago they won the region in DI. So they have had some good teams in the recent past and I expect no less this year. When you return 16 starters from a playoff team there should be high expectations.
