There has been a thread about the best player to come out of your school, how about listing the top 3 players from your school that are currently playing Division I football:

Palestine
1. Adrian Peterson (6-2, 210, FR, RB, Oklahoma) - Preseason Big 12 newcomer of the year, should contend for the starting spot immediatly.

2. Lynn McGruder (6-3, 300, SR, DT, Oklahoma) - Preseason 2nd team All-Big 12 defense, also named Big 12's Male Sportsman of the year for all sports for the 2003-2004 school year.

3. Johnathan Cary (6-3, 285, FR, DT, Rice) - Is on the 2-deep chart at Rice after redshirting last year. Was on the Texas HS SuperTeam in 2002.

Do you think that the DT already at OU had any influence on Peterson's choice???

4A Poster - "Yah, I just don't think Forney has what it takes to compete in 4A this year..."

jason the first time - "Yah, well  why do you think that?

4A Poster - "Let's face it, you're 4A now and it's not like you have Blanton or anything close to him anymore... You will do okay, but not too good if you know what I mean..."

jason the second time - " New Topic: 4a Poster is ROM"

Nah, just messin'...

Hey texasjeremy... Did you get that question man?

I was just kind of curious as to why he chose OU in the first place... Not because it was odd, just wondering why... And now that I see you guys already have a successful player there, I figured that could have been a reason...

Not sure that McGruder influenced Peterson, considering McGruder is 4 years older than Peterson, but its possible. I think the main two things were (1) he was on the sideline for UT/OU last year and also another former Palestine football player, Ryan Mottern will be a sophomore on the OU baseball team this coming year.

Here is a short list regarding the 2002 Bandera Bulldog Champs: Brett Hicks - Quarterback for Sam Houston , should see considerable play this year, red shirted last year. Colten Sells - A & M (but i don't hold that against him...) walked on last year, is a big boy....hope he does well, he's a favorite of mine! Good luck to both of them this year!! Love 'em!! YaYa!! (and they loooooove the YaYa's!!)

I believe Bobo and AD were neighbors when they were younger, but I agree with Texasjeremy, Mottern probably played a bigger part in getting AD to Norman.

Glad to hear Bassler was working hard this summer. I have a lot of respect for him. Best of luck to him and the Cougars this season, except in that first game Sept 5--gotta be behind my Rice Owls all the way!

From Jasper, currently playing Division I football:
1. "Red Bryant", Texas A&M, DL, 6-5, 300 or more
2. Jorrie Adams, Texas A&M, TE or DE ? 6-8, 280

There recently also have been a multitude of players going to junior colleges from Jasper, some of whom are probably due to move up to D1 colleges.

If Texas would have aggressively recruited AD like Oklahoma did early, I truly believe AD would be a Longhorn now. He also had a few outside influences (family/friends) but I don’t believe they were necessarily other Palestine players.
