I think Cuero had about 125 in Freshman, JV, and Varsity. We peaked a few years ago at 170. Worst team in years. We do better with quality over quantity.

Still 125 coming out even after a couple of down years and a desire to ' be different' and represent the Big O (offseason).... I'm tickled pink...

Palestine High had 121 come out the first day, the number will increase as the week goes on.

Palestine Westwood had 83, expecting the number to get close to 100.

That's great, Cuero doesn't let you unless you make it... I guess it has to do with dependability or something...

Those are all freshmen that they expect to trickle in during the week. If you throw out those freshmen, the varsity and JV are about 90 strong.

125 is a lot for 3A. La Grange has been getting about 80-90 guys the past few seasons. I don't know about this summer but I expect maybe 90 guys for 9-12. Remember there are only about 320 boys in the school. When you figure in all the kids who's mama's won't let them play (Shaquille O'Neil et al) that's not bad.:D

Here in Raymondville a few years ago we used to field a sophomore team...which seems kind of odd to me...they used to only play 5A backup teams.

Barbers Hill had around 149 report. 42 Varsity, 32 JV, 25 Sophomores, and 50 Freshman. They started fielding a sophomore team last year to get more kids some playing time.

Gobbla and OG, I think our surprise this year will be Casey Harryman. Didn't play last year due to a torn ACL. 6'-1" 195 fullback. Legit 4.4 speed. Benches about 325 lbs. No one has seen him since JV two years ago when he was awesome. He is that piece of the puzzle that was missing last year.
He will alternate at fullback so he can play full time linebacker. He calls the defense and can get from sideline to sideline almost as fast as Cooper can run.

Liberty Hill had about 90 in total (Freshman through Varsity.)

Gonzales had 120 show up. Gonzales had a "sophomore" team last year as well. They were called the "Grey team".

With 80-90 players will they combine the frosh and jv again like in 2000? That was a good thing for some but it ticked off a lot of parents who felt their kids were not getting enough playing time competing with sophs.
I expect they will have a good sized frosh, and a small jv (as is the usual case for LG). Who are the up and coming sophs this year?
Who is going to get the nod at qb this season in your opinion? The Leps will be fielding one of the fastest 3A teams this year and should make some heads turn in the coming weeks. Go Leps!:D

I heard that there were 9 Seniors, 23 Juniors, 32 Sophomores and 23 Freshman out at Bridge City.
With a pretty tough schedule of Liberty, Little Cypress-Mauriceville, Jasper, Silsbee and Kirbyville they will be well challenged prior to District Play. They scrimmage Splendora, Newton and Cleveland prior to meeting Liberty for the first preseason contest. This is the second year in a row with very few Seniors out for football. They receive a boost when Junior QB Broc Haymon and also Darrel Stevens split-out came back to play just as the season began. Looks like Dale Armand is the only really seasoned running back.

BIGHANK

i have a feeling were gonna do pretty well we just have to work hard and play hard and be one team with one dream and we will accomplish outstanding achievements and we have one of the best teams in Diboll high school history and we are way ahead of where we were last year. so all and all well prolly hold our on.

i just have one question to all you posters how do you see Diboll as a threat a really good team or team with potential jw?

Diboll_Lumberjackk

Lol hank Diboll has a good team indeed but not one of the best i do believe the team has lost many good players from the graduation from last year. The defense will suffer the most though loseing the ummph but it will be good to stand back this year an see what you guys have ill be watching :D
