Well it is that time of year again when the gladiators grimly file into the locker rooms around the state and lace up their cleats for the grueling two-a-days. La Grange and Hernandez#5 have been quite on the "Low this week, no doubt busy putting on their game faces as senior leaders for the Leps this season. What is remarkable about this first day is that, despite the knowledge that you are facing a very intense physical challenge in the hottest days of summer, you nonetheless make the sacrifice and proudly wear the uniform for your school. Many lesser young men fail to clear this hurdle, and fall by the wayside, only to find themselves sitting in the stands as spectators wondering what glorious moments might have been theirs had they only had the fortitude to stick it out. In a few years those who played will remember those glorious moments, along with the sweat and pain that was the price they paid for such cherished memories. Those who could have, but didn't, will regret those lost dreams and wonder why it was that they could let such a thing slip away. Win or lose, those who have played the game and been there, as you are there now in shirts, shorts, hat and shoes, dripping sweat onto the ground, head bent over, praying you will not puck the breakfast so lovingly prepared that morning by your mom or dad in front of your teammates, have the greatest respect and admiration for what you do. Good luck, and never doubt what it is that you are doing. You are making some of the most wonderous memories of your life, so don't let these moments slip away.

I bet they are all excited...but then dreading it at the same time....

Mine never would eat breakfast before 2 a days...just a lot of water...and then a trip to the taco shack afterwards:) (or to your house for a steak!)

Good luck to you guys this season. I hope our teams meet up again soon. What a great game that was last year.

Yeah that went all the way to the last three plays: interception to stop a Bobcat drive at our 20; a breakaway 84 yard run; and then a 1 yard fieldgoal by a freshman kicker at his second time up on varsity! Good luck to yall as well. Your new coach sounds alright.:)

Thanks for those words Pudlugger, they are so true. While I never made it any further than HS Ball, I had a blast and those are fond memories now.

I'm ready to go, but at the same time I'm nervous because you never know with our coaches. You never know what they will come up with.
