Whoa, I'm stuck big here...

Week 1 or 2 of the playoffs (hoping we make it this far, of course), I've been invited to go hunting up/out around San Angelo...

I dunno what to do... suggestions would help...

Me and 5 other guys always go mule deer hunting in west Texas in the beginning of December. We were going to go from December 3-11. This takes in two weekends. We are making contingency plans to leave both weekends open. Wishful thinking. Playoffs that deep are once every couple of years. Hunting can wait.

Well, that's the deal, I don't wanna miss a game...

Our plans are to leave Thursday evening or Friday morning, set up camp and hunt through the weekend...

I'm hoping that game is on a Friday night so I can just head up early Sat morning, hunt in the evening and Sunday morning maybe evening as well...

Oh well, have places to hunt in DeWitt, Goliad and Victoria counties, may just have to settle for that...

Reeve is big on Friday games. He likes the routine of it all. Saturdays have too much slack time and only bad things can happen. Stadium availability enters into the mix at that point of the season.

I just think like this Gobbla.

" I ain't mad at no stinking deer if we're in the playoffs". That's my motto.:smoker:

Yah, right now I'm feeling more excited about the Gobblers in the playoffs than a buck in the hand...

Playoffs it is...

crabman - Where do you hunt the Mulees at? My grandfather used to hunt 'em around Sanderson... I have a pretty nice typical 10 holding hats on my wall from that place... Wish I could have gone huntin' with that guy, atleast when I was old enough to remember...

Hey, just try to plan the hunt for a Sunday and Monday and get there Saturday morning or night. The playoffs have definatley had an effect on our hunting seasons the last couple of years, but hey if your team is doing good, ya just have to go with them.:D
By the way, its good to see you posting Gobbla, I hope all is going well for you. ODG

We turn south at Marathon and go 6 miles south. We head back east about 17 miles. It's in the Woods Hollow Mountains. We hunt on 16,000 acres. Elevation is from 3,500 feet to 5,100 feet. Mostly mountains. No flat prairie. The majority of the place is called Hell's Half Acre. Good name for some hellacious country.

I have to agree with olddawggreen. The last two years was a hunt between the games for sure. It is way to important to the kids and the community to let it pass by. Think you are making the correct decision if you put the hunt on hold. And it is good to see ya back Gobbla......

I think the best decision, BIG19, would be to thank you for what you're doin' over in Iraq... God bless you and your fellow troops...
