You get 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degree burns gripping your steering wheel.

You have to feed your chickens crushed ice to keep them from laying boiled eggs.

The cows are giving evaporated milk.

You rather jaw about football on this board with a bunch of football fanatics than go fishing!:D

It was so hot today...I saw a woman pouring coffee on her head at MacDonalds to cool off.

I for one always thought Texas was hot during July and August, then I was sent to this place on the other side of the world. You want ot talk about HOT. It was 119 yesterday and today should be about the same.

Actually as the day heats up the wind starts to blow about 5 miles an hour and then the dust starts kicking up. Really hate staying inside all day, but over here that is what you have to do. Heck at 9:00 last night it was still 98 degrees. It does drop pretty fast though. The mornings have been real nice, upper 60-low 70's

Hey Big 19, good to see you working the thread.

Been pretty warm here in Burnet today......99 degrees offically so I heard. Things are drying out real fast now. That lush green you last saw is slipping away. But, hey it is July in Texas; what the heck should we expect!

You can tell folks are starting to get itchy about the upcoming season. We will start claiming our season tickets this next week at the admin office.

Keep yourself safe and know lots of people have you and your family in their daily prayers!

Thanks Old Dog. I too am ready for the season to start. Just wish I could be there for the o0pener, but that is not going to happen. Going to have to try to figure out how listen to it through this firewall. If not, I will get updates somewhere......Tell the boys good luck for me.

Big 19, It ain't no joke to be in Irag. Stay cool man! When I'm frying in the Texas sun, I'll be thinking about that same old sun shining on you in Iraq. I hope the sun's heat is the only heat you face.

pakrat, you are correct, it is not a joke over here, but it really is not that bad anymore. Our troops did and are doing a great job here. For the most part, what you see on tv is terrorists trying to sabbotage the new government and all that is will stand for. What they don't seem to understand is that if they kill one leader, another will step up and take his place. We are really just in a support mission now. Don' think for a moment that our troops are not in danger 24/7, they are. But we are prepared for just about anything. The hardest thing is trying to understand why the need for car bombs and the explosive devices that they plant on the sides of the roads to blow up as cars pass. Believe me, everyone here remains vigilant at ALL times. It is kind of a way of life. Sure will be glad to get back though.

Big19, if "we" the folks on 3ADL were to put together a care package of sorts that would have sports magazines as well as some other things from home could you and your military buddies use some things? If so, what do you need/want/miss? OldDog just inspired me by his admirable actions to send to you guys some things you guys could use. I will volunteer to send the package if anyone out there would like to contribute.

Big19.... any thoughts?

Really is amazing the generosity that comes from the many people you "do not know". What a GREAT family we have become! What I have seen so far is when people get packages they share just about everything that is in them. I have seen anything from magazines to candy and cookies to toiletries of all kind. You can bet pretty much anything you put in it, will be used by someone. Things do NOT go to waste over here. A very nice gesture by the way. Send it to me and I will make sure it gets out to the masses. One thing I would like to see is have a few kids draw up some signs to post around letting the troops know that they are missed and thoguht about. I have seen many signs from all over, but none from the greatest state. Just a thought.
